Here's a great article from the WaPo last month that tells the story of a dynamic, young Islamic preacher who has a lot of traction in a key demographic in the fight for Muslim minds.

How do we assist in steering young Muslim youths towards an Islam that is compatible with modernity a la Bernard Lewis without tainting said preachers/influencers?

We mustn't come near him and his peers. Let them reach to us as it becomes appropriate. Thank God for our technology and marketing acumen. The seed has, indeed, been planted and this little, very green plant will, I suspect, find it's own nourishment.

Indirectly by responding to the issues he raises not him. If they say the youth needs hope and jobs then get the ball rolling to create jobs and hope. But don't work with him/them unless they reach out. MLK didn't win by going to the feds, but by making the feds come to him.
