Rand Goodies

Ray,
The Rand Corporation is engaged in a phenomanally diverse set of studies and projects. Their Arroyo Center works exclusively with the U.S. Army, and is responsible for some really cool research. It, by itself, is worth perusing. Rand does a-lot of work with international terrorism, and Brian Jenkins is their go-to-guy for that particular subject. Rand does some good stuff, and they are perhaps the "bluest chip" of the blue chip enterprises listed by Shek.
Thanks,
Cato

Here's a great presentation on the current situation of strategy in Iraq by COL Andrew Krepinevich. The first link just announces the event at which he briefed, and the second link is the briefing itself.

Here's a companion read to the briefing:

Quote:
Professor Colin Kahl of the University of Minnesota’s Political Science Department has been kind enough to permit the Small Wars Journal to post an e-mail of his that was widely circulated. This e-mail concerns U.S. counterinsurgency (COIN) efforts in Iraq and a briefing presented by Andrew Krepinevich of the Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments titled The “New” Counterinsurgency Doctrine and the Baghdad Surge: Formula for Success?
Read the rest here, The Four Phases of the U.S. COIN Effort in Iraq (SWJ Blog).

Library W/ Folders

I'm actually building a library with folders so Shek and CATO's contributions here are invaluable. Thanks Shek for opening these venues!
