Do you see a trend here? Most goalies play better as they age. I guess when they're younger they move around alot whereas when they're old, they don't move like the ice is on fire.

Legace was good, but he was in the choke phase with the wings. Remember when CuJo was there? The wings couldn't score, and the blame kept falling on the goalies.

Yeah, Cujo wasn't a good fit at all. Hasek played well for them for a season without fitting in well. In my opinion anyway.

Legace though, he played as good as he needed to I think.

    Agreed.

Depending on Osgood's sneaky 3rd period exit last game, he'll return next season or atleast 2 more, he looks amazing in there.

    After today's game, two comments:

    1) Wow.

    2) That game was a lot closer than the 3-1 score shows. The Pens showed no respect and got nailed by a few lucky bounces for the Wings. I still think tomorrow's game is 50/50 - either team can make it happen.

That said, Go Wings! Go Ozzy!

Detroit's not even full force yet, this was a brutal loss for the Penguins.

Crosby and Malkin are going to have to throw the team on their shoulders again and do their magic if they even want a SHOT at winning.

Does Holmstrom do anything other than stand in front of the net? Carry the puck? Pass? Cycle?

I have not seen him do anything other than standing in front of the goal, screening the goalie, and deflect shots. That's pretty much what I do when I play forward, but I have no skill at forward. I normally play defense.

    LOLLL

Practise makes perfect my friend. I used to be an average hockey player and I had enough of being picked close to last, so one summer I took it upon myself to become better so I just started playing on my own. Taking shots at an empty net -going high, low, corner pockets- and all sorts of other drills, it was pretty fun because I used to do it on roller blades. When I would go for a cruise on my blades, I'd take my hockey stick and the red ball with me so I'd get better at "puck handling"... All jokes aside, I actually became the best player out of all my friends.

Franzen is amazing. Detroit is stacked, and all the players are signed on for long term *yikes*

Penguins are up 1-0. Detroit seems too well orchestrated to lose, but lets see what happens.

Homie's specialty is getting the extra back pad on and standing in front of the goal for sure, but he's gotten more rounded through the years. He does all of the other things you mention too.

Tonight's game I thought was more of a domination by Detroit and less luck, but still no more than 60/40 Detroit. The Pens, IF they go down, will not go down easily. I really really enjoyed watching this game.

But Fleury has to be better. Abby's goal was just silly, same as last night. Both choppy bouncers that should have been stopped in addition to being never allowed by the Pen's D in the first place.

Of course, that's easy to say from my chair.

You mean he used to do LESS? How is that possible?

    Detroit's a very clever team.

Penguins are going to have to play Detroit style game to win, simple as that.

Fleury's fine, Cindy Crosby and Malkin have to play better, much better.

One of the commentators said it last night - the Pens' keys are their two stars, and Detroit's secondary guys are way better than the Pens secondaries. If Crosby and Malkin are going to remain stifled then fine - the other guys have to ratchet it up a notch.

Home ice should help them a little.

Detroit's role players are better, no question about it. Pittsburgh has equal, if not more, fire power as the Red Wings. It'll be interesting to see how the Penguins react at home. I heard analysts say the Penguins are going to win both games at home, but I think only 1.
