I am a little reserved when it comes to the "monster". Sure he may be good in Sweden, however, will he be that good in the NHL?

As a Leafs fan, I am hopeful that we have the building blocks for a future team that will be a real contender. However, I am not anticipating Lord Stanleys mug gracing Younge street any time soon.

Well in a way, its a win win situation, he costs cheaper than a backup would cost. $900 000? He'll be a backup and get his time to prove he can win, if he's good to go, he'll get a crazy deal and will become our starter unless he flops like Pogge. Pogge, now that was a goaltender destined for glory, sucks for him

    Koivu to ducks, desperate act?

Whoa, Koivu to the Ducks? That is awesome! Teemu gets his center and the Ducks get 2nd line scoring. They are both Finns and hopefully have good chemistry together.

The current Ducks won't be together for more than 2 years. Selanne will retire in a year or 2. Niedermayer is always contemplating about retirement. Marchant has maybe 2 good years left. Giguere will be gone in a year. This is the last push before the club completely revamps itself and go with the young guys.

    In Finnish -

Selanne: Come on, Man! It is just us two Fins now
Koivu: I will try my best, we will try to win a cup together
Selanne: Then we can bring it back to Finland become royal kings, together
Koivu: hehe, I wonder what the prime minister's daughter would think of us
Selanne: When we win the cup, maybe we can surprise everyone and win the gold in 2010
Koivu: You see, thats why I'm the captain, we have no chance at beating Team Canada, but the Swedes? Let's destroy them
Selanne: Ok. Lets just focus on this year

    Whoa!!

Pogge is still just a kid, Look at Fluery from Pittsburgh, he was toted to become a great goalie. And he had a very rocky start, now he is a champion!

Fleury is probably the bounce back kid of the century. If Ray Emery has a playoffs the way he did for Ottawa he'd be another bounce back. But remember before Draft how Fleury blew it for Team Canada in the juniors? The Russians ate him up. You're right, he was on a crappy team, so was Pogge, there was no help.

I've always liked Pogge, but with the signing of the MONSTER you can expect Pogge is no longer in our plans, unless the MONSTER screws up (highly unlikely)

I think they're trying to get a game between BU and BC as well.

Can you see anything from the Monster?

I saw the game in Chicago on TV. It was funny to see a rink in the middle of the field with lots of open space on the sides.

Too bad we won't get the game over here at Dodger Stadium or Angel Stadium. :P

From what I saw of Wrigley the Monster seats should be great.

    That does look cool.

Don't be so sure about no outdoor ice hockey in California. Bruce McNall put on a Kings exhibition game in summer heat of Las Vegas years ago. I think the problem will be lack of interest. I doubt we can pack more than 50k fans for a Kings/Ducks game on New Years Day at Angel Stadium.

Wow, think I need to make a trip down to Boston for that one!!

You'd get over 50k on any given day, including Christmas, if the team you're playing against is Washington or Pittsburgh.

My brother in Boston is saying its going to cost you north of $750 for an obstructed view ticket......and first dibs to Bruins season ticket holders.

I am going to be in Boston over New Years anyway and I asked him to check on tickets. He said I needed to win the lottery first.
