Ducks also get Sbisa. Supposedly he is very talented and is only 19.

In addition, Ducks get $2 million in cap space to work with.

I hate to see Pronger go. I thought he was their best player during the playoffs.
Philli pulls out another blockbuster eh? Pronger, WOW. Philli is one hell of a stacked team. If I was Jay Bow I'd stiff the flames (sorry Exarecr) and sign one year minimum with Philli; winning is all he wants to do.

How do you guys feel about Federov and Kozlov leaving Washington?

    Tavares in New york Isles?

If winning is what he wants, he's in the right place. Hopefully we can get him signed tomorrow! Then we'll have a Regehr, Bouwmeester, Phaneuf, Sarich 1-4 Defense, best in the league in my mind. Our forwards will be lighter this year with Cammalleri and Bertuzzi gone, but hopefully Jokinen, Iginla, and Langkow can improve on last year's numbers. All I can say is I LIKE IT!

Did you just say Regehr and Phaneuf - best in the league? I think you're just a blind Flames fan :P Don't worry, I felt the same way about Kaberle and McCabe. Phaneuf is too soft now, and you know it; ever since that hottie gf of his entered his life.

Philli with the addition of Pronger and Emery are wayyyyyy ahead of Calgary. Philli would sweep Calgary in finals even if they had the bowie

I said that we would have the best top 4 defensive group in the league with Regehr, Bouwmeester, Phaneuf, Sarich. I would argue best overall defensive core even if you throw in Giordano and Pardy (who Sutter can hopefully resign here quickly).

Phaneuf had a TERRIBLE year. Who knows why, the gf, Avery, Iron Mike, no idea. But he has the talent and potential to be a great dman, similar to Pronger if he wants to be. And Reggie is one of the top defensive/shutdown defensemen in the league. He's not flashy, doesn't put up points, but he gets the job done. I wouldn't trade him for anything, and he's also one of the best leaders in the dressing room. He gets no where near the respect he should.

Meh, your forwards are stacked. Pronger shores up a shaky defense. Whose gonna be your starting goalie? Biron coming back? Anyways, I don't know how you can claim Philly is WAY AHEAD of Calgary.

This is such an odd statement that I don't quite know how to respond. Highly unlikely you get swept in the finals these days. We play very different games playing in different conferences. Besides, we trounced you guys 5-1 when we played this year, if anything, that should be the benchmark we're using.

Emery will probably bomb again. The guy is very unstable. He's like Mike Tyson on skates.

I agree with your assessment on Phaneuf. That guy is one of my fav D-mans and I always say "BOOM" when he hits somebody lol but you're right, its just one year. Hopefully he'll bounce back this year, and if he doesn't then he won't be on team Canada which will be a disappointment indeed -when he's on top of his game he's ruthless and scary.

Philli's not my team :P I'm a die hard Leafs fan but my 2nd favourite team is Washington because of Ovechkin. I was just shocked with the trade Philli pulled off, they have a horse (pronger) back there now; there is no way they could lure bowie there, it was just a random mention by me. But I still feel Philli was better than Calgary yesterday and is better than them today.

Ovechkin said they're going to win the cup next year lol I feel bad for him, he had absolutely NO help against Pittsburgh. He put on a clinic though, but if Green or Semin had showed up I think Washington would've won.

Gunnut, you're hockey smart, do you remember the first few years of Eric Lindros?

I don't know, ever since the Capitals traded away Donald Brashear I'm getting this very eerie feeling that Ovechkin might be the next Lindros, KNOCK ON WOOD. Lindros was much bigger and heavier, but I think skill, speed and strength wise they were equal.

In other words, I'm worried for Ovechkin. Lindros came into the league and blew everyone away with his scoring and hitting ability, and a few years later he started having concussions and all that because he was constantly playing a physical game -if you're dishing it out, you have to be able to take it.

Any need to worry or you think Ovechkin is a totally different player?

I think Ovechkin is a differenty type of player.

Lindros had great talent and great size. But the problem was he played like a goon who could score, rather than a scorer who could hit.

Ovechkin is a scorer who could hit and is tough. He's like a bigger version of Pavel Bure. Bure could score at will at his prime and he played with an edge. It's just that his knees gave out before the body did.

Did you hear about the contract Hossa signed? Hawks will pay him something like $60 million over 12 years. That comes out to be just over $5 million a year. That's a bargain!

The Bulin Wall is now an oiler. Roloson is an Islander. I think he will need a lot more help than what Tavares can provide.:P

Hmmm, that is true. Although Ovechkin did play like a goon in the first round lol he was taking runs at everyone on the Rangers, poor Staal lol

How old is Hossa? 12 years is a very long time. Detroit did the same with zetterberg and Franzen, thats where Hossa probably got his whole very-long-term deal from.

You heard about the extension Nash signed? I really thought Toronto had a shot with him next year (free agent next year) I was stunned. Its crazy though, I dont know how it is there but in Toronto land everyone thinks every player is ours LOL The rumours never stop. I even heard a rumour last year that Burke was bringing Tie Domi back

Leafs are doing pretty good. Not only do we have Komisarek and Beauchemin now, we have Orr and Exelby ))

I wouldn't want to play the leafs now, forgetting winning games, we'll be winning wars )

If we get the Monster (swedish goalie Jonas Gustavsson), Burke is doing a heck of a good job, man!

Beauchemin is now a Leaf? Ducks lost Pronger and Beauchemin, 2 guys who could eat up ice time any day of the week. I hope Sbisa is as good as they say he is. Ducks went from top notch defense to so-so in less than a week. Who's left besides Niedermayer? Wisniewsky filed for arbitration and I don't remember anyone else on the blueline.

Gaborik to the Rangers? Havlat replaces Gaborik in Minnesota? Kings have Smyth?

Rangers got Gaborik. A healthy gaborik is a dangerous gaborik, I remember him in the playoffs that year Minnesota made a run, he was like Iginla, one man show.

Life is good in Leaf land my friend :P

Well, good news and bad news.

Good news: We reeled in the Monster

Bad news: Joe Sakic is retiring

Just read about "the Monster." The Leafs will be in great shape if he is as good as Jonas Hiller.

Flyers signed Pronger to a 7 year extension.
