Today all of them are big success. More and more Chinese economists and ordinary Chinese people are interested in them. Most part of rural area in China don't have more potential and still relatively poor (of course richer than 27 years ago). many Chinese believe we need reform on reform. Oneman,
One reason for growth in China is authoritarian rule. If a road is needed and it passes a village the village will be moved. The people cannot question and have to reprieve. But in India, the law allowes the people to get due compensation in cash or kind. The big difference is that my wishes will not get trodded upon by the state, and I have recourse to legal procedure. |

Gentlemen,
Oneman has given me the recipes. Take it from a fussy eater like me. Chinese food is the best in taste and health except Ajinomoto. Since Oneman has hit me where it hurts - my stomach, I sign the "Peace and Tranquility" Treaty UNILATERALLY with him, PROVIDED no praising of the Communists. Red Salaam (Salute) to all Comrade of the Toiling WAB! ![]() Actually Oneman is a nice gentleman. |

Mainland follows Hongkong in the land management. The country always be the owner of the land. Anyone else are the users. You can use the land by contract, it maybe 50 or 70 years based on the usage. If a road pass a villedge, gov should pasuade resident to move to another place. Of course, gov or developer should compensate. That's the same policy. People can go to the court to argue for a reasonable compensation. The problem is that corruption some times happens in China. It is not problem of policy. So many projects are going in China, there are a lot of people are not satified with the compensation. Most of cases, they get support from media and the gov will step out. |

Jay,
Mainland China sucks in Chennai because I bet you are a veggie! Man, that is the real Chinese (though still Indianised) food. Acutally Chinese food is real bland. Ate with a Calcutta Chinese friend since I insisted. The he gave me a Calcutta Chinese meal and I freaked out. I suggest you come to Calcutta and let me take you to Mainland China. You are making me hungry. |
