I love these "more loyal than the King himself" Congressmen!

Actually, the whole issue is quite ridiculous.

No one is clear what is an "office of profit" and what offices invite disqualification as a Member of Parliament.

The Battle of the "Bahus" (daughters in law) , the resultant of the bad blood between the Bachhans and the Gandhis is said to be the reason for the complaint against Jaya Bachhan holding an office of profit by which she was disqualified as an MP by the Election Commission.

This started the ball rolling.

Naturally, Sonia Gandhi would too come into the purview since she also hold an office that carries with it its perks and allowances.

Surprising the Commies are not resigning. They love to play the moralists. Somnath Chatterjee, the Commie and the Speaker, who actually holds officers of profit, is snug as a bug on this issue!

What is wrong with the highly educated xxx Mouse Morron Singh.
So much for the touted "honesty" of donkey Primeminister.

Edit Say the same thing (if you wish) with politically correct words eg don't call anyone a liar. Just say "guilty of terminological inexactitude".

Oh blimey, the drama queen is back !

Before the general election of 2004, Sonia Gandhi tied her hair as a pony tail. Ever since the enaction of her first drama, she wears a plat and dresses like mata rani.

The drama of it all - the sycophany, the sheer trash being given as reasons for resignation, the jackasses assembling and braying in front of 10 Janpath, the spokesperson's imagination running riot, and the unbearable Barkha Dutt on TV - its all too pathetic.

They keep electing her and Rae Barreily has remained a backward town till date despite consistently electing these morons again and again.

The veteran Parliamentarian said since 1989 he had been the Chairman of the Authority when it was first established as a statutory authority under the West Bengal Town and Country (Planning and Development) Act, 1979.

"It is now now for the first time irresponsibly alleged that I am holding an office of profit although I have been a Member of Parliament all along. I have not violated any provisions of the Constitution or any law of this country," he said.

Chatterjee said for the last few days an insinuation was being made that he was allegedly holding an office of profit under the West Bengal Government which disqualified him from continuing as a member of Lok Sabha and thereby as Speaker.

"Presumably such insinuation is made on the pretended complaint of Trinamool Congress in a letter to the President as the Chairman of SSDA and as the supposed President of the Asiatic Society, Kolkata, I am allegedly holding offices of profit."

Incidentally, he said, he had never been nor was he the the President of Asiatic Society and such a "casual reference" to the society "not only shows the colossal ignorance on the part of the complainant but also how motivated the complaint is".

He said it should be remembered that any and every office under the government was not and could not be an office of profit. An office which did not provide for any "profit" to the holder did not disqualify one from being an MP.

It depended on the facts of each case whether a particular office was or was not an office of profit. "In the absence of any case or any particulars, it is not required of me to disprove any allegation," he said.

Well let us see what the EC does. Somnath Chatterjee cannot be the accused and the judge at the same time.

Why did the EC not disqualify these people when they filed their nomination papers ? How come it passed right under their noses and nothing was said or done?

By the way, The Sonia of Rae Bareli, Act II Scene 1 appears to have flopped, as many people have seen it for what it is - an empty drama.
