    Are we bored?

Gota go with something in 7.62, maybe an AK type to slowly kill M21.

I'll put my money on the G36. I heard it 's very reliable and it barely jams.

    The SiG

The SiG is acually the best model. Very rugged. Extremely reliable. Best sights and trigger pull of any on the list. The German made guns have a reputation for poor triggger pulls, as do any of the bullpup designs. If the AK101 is as reliable as the AK-47 then you might have a winner there (but the SIG still tops it). The M-16/M-4 jam too much

Bad trigger pulls can be fixed, and could also be seen as a kind of safety. Nobody wants a hair trigger under the strains of combat.

Good point, and honestly shooting out to 100 yards won't make that mutch of a difference.

I shoot way more than 100 yards all the time, and in the military, you want a rifle that can accurately shoot up to 500 yards.

You missed one of the best rifles...
    - FN FAL 7.62mm
....only the G3 measures up to the FAL, so I voted for the G3.

    Cheers!...on the rocks!!

Well, tough decision, but like lemontree already said, some of the best rifles are not on the list. I’ll add only HK G-41 (basically G-3 in 5,56 with some new stuff added) and Sako M-95 - probably the best AK clone in “open” class. And some of listed are carbines and some are rifles, there is difference… But probably the best (here) is SIG-550, not 552, its sub-carbine with only 226mm long barrel.

The HKG41 was one of the rifles selected by the Indian army in 1985 to replace the FAL. But we wanted somthing like the Aug Styr too, so we ended up making our own INSAS series.
But give this over any other rifle...

    LOL...

It ain't on the list, but make mine an M-14 pattern rifle. 14, 21, 25, don't matter. Any will do.

Voted G3 out of whats on the list but out of those I've fired assault rifle ise I'm going to say FN FAL.

    Admitadly fired only
    AK-M
FN-FAL (actually it was some british clone that was near identical who's name I don't remmeber)
AK-74 (fairly sure it was a chinese one didn't seem a bad gun but didn't fire it much)
    AF-47 heavy not accurate
M-16 I've had some good ones fired and some bad ones I think alot depends on the guns early care during wear in and also magizine condition.
