I also take notice that there is no HK hardware listed above. I own one and know of several others that do. Is there any particular reason they were left ok?

There's two up there. G3 or G36. Take your pick.

Oh man, the AK-74M, its a beauty. I don't really have much to compare with since its the only assault rifle i ever fired, but i love that gun, i just do.

G36 all the way. As wonderful as the M16 and AK are, the G36 has good qualities of both.

No AK series rifle is in 5.56mm caliberation, except the Indian made A-7 which is 5.56mm (have'nt heard much about it though).

The best would be one of the new bullpup desgins, namely the Tavor (which isn't on the list).

But.. if you told me to stick to one, it'd be the Kalachnikov. Not accurate, heavy... but more reliable than my old beloved grandma. It will fire no matter what. The same can be said about the Galil... but I'd rather go for the original.

Russian tools are simple, easy to use, not very effective, but so very reliable, you could bet your life on it.

Sounds like an excuse for poor weapons discipline.

Sometimes, you can't be bothered to clean your rifle every 100 rounds. Sometimes, you have to rely on a weapon. That's when I'll put down my highly-effective, light and comfortable M-16 and take up the oh-so-more-reliable AK-47.

In any other situation, the AK-47 sucks, because it's not nearly as effective as other ARs.

I agree OOE. Have you ever fired either War Angel? M16 will definitely function with 100 rounds put through it. M16 is reliable enough if it is looked after with a relative amount of care.

Ya, the M16A2 isn't that unreliable, they fixed most of the problems that the original M16 had with reliability already.
