Though muzzle flash also does a pretty decent job of letting people know where you are typically.

    Speaking of muzzle flash-

I went out last Friday night to the shooting range (which was really wierd shooting in the darkness). I have 2 DPMS M4 clones- one with a flash hider, one without. We took both out there, and the birdcage-type flash hider is extremely effective in lessening the otherwise very large flash that a M4 produces. The flash is about the same size as the MP5's.

I want to recast my vote for the HK 416, after watching this video:

Bit limited as I have only tried the M16A2, AUG and a couple of AK's.

I will however have to go with the M16 due to its concessions for lefty's.

On the flash supressors side of things and not really fitting for this tread, has anyone ever actually compared the muzzleflash of the same model gun with the same ammo down range of one. rom what I've seen on the other side of the gun it doesn't make alot of difference but I also think this could be very similiar to the gunmuzzle the size of a quater effect that you get because you focus on it when on the wrong end of a piece.

No, sorry - although I lived in Zambia many years ago. I served in the UK. Only 3 years full service (before that I was an officer reserve while at University) and I spent a lot of time in competitions - including a couple of times at Bisley. I'm not a natural good shot though. I always had to work really hard on my technique but I got to try a lot of weapons. The Bren was my favourite.

Ah, the dear old Bren gun. The best of the breed was the Mark 1 in .303" calibre with the drum sight. You simply couldn't miss.

flashhiders don't hide the flash entierely, the enemy will still see you not as good thou, but fh makes it easyer for you to aim, and not be blinbed by your own muzlle flash, that is why most ,if not all lmg have one.

Like I said, that night was pitch black (no moon, lots of clouds). The flash-hiderless M4 really did blind me. I was surprised just how big the flash was, as I had never seen it so big in daylight. The one with the birdcage flash-hider was much, much better.

i'll take G3, i've already used it. yes a lot of jamming problems, but also a lot of power and easy to take care of it

something like a G-3 and M14 i'd argue is more or less a battle rifle and less assault rifle

According to an article in Defense Technology International, the AK-47, AN-94 and AEK-971 were all fitted with a 30 round magazine and fired on a full automatic. The AK-47 got 1 out of 30 on target, the AN-94 2, and the AEK-971 17.
