    Hiya Stan and all,

The G36 is a very competent weapon's system, which I have been lucky enough to shoot on a number of occasion's, thank's to being a member of the German Reservisten Verband. It is bulky for want of better word's, the sighting system(s) are very easy to use, and the accuracy is typical H&K (good).

I have fired it in the semi & full auto mode's at diferent range's and liked it, a lot.
The target shooter's over here are pimping their H&K SL8's out to look like the G36 (www.sl-8.de).

I still stick to my choice of M16A2 as it is battle proven and in generall use, although I'd love an H&K416 .

as i said in a previous post i could not really say which is the best assault weapon ,the galil,s are good so are the AK 47 ,but the problem for me was i could,nt hit the broad end of the barn, the army quickly realized this after 6 months so the weapon i lugged around for 18 months was the LMG7,62

After my national service and i became a reservist i decided everytime i went on excersises i thought i could ******** the army and say i was a rifleman and carried the r4,but being at 6foot2 inches in my socks and weighing about 16stone about 105 kilo,s i never got near a damn rifle ,the older i got the heavier
the machine gun became but if you ask me now what weapon of choice ,it would be the lmg7,62mmm mmmm just piont in general direction and aim.

Well yeah, you always give the MG to the big guy. Lucky you. All the ex machine gunners I talk to to say they hated carrying that damn thing. That is until the shooting started then they wouldn't have any other weapon in the world.

Funny you mentioned about the biggest getting lumbered with the GPMG, I'm not all that big but used to volunteer to carry it, when the situation arrised. The only down side to that was having to carry the SMG bungeed to my kidney pouches and still having to cart the ammo and cleaning kit's for both.

Didnt detract from the fact that I came second in a GPMG shoot out before going on an operational tour, but that's another tail.

I haven't shot the AK-101, AK-103, or TKB-517M, and just shot one familiarization mag from the FAMAS, but of all these I chose the SIG.

It is light, handy, and very accurate. The clear mags are a great feature. It performs even better when shooting the correct ammo (5,6mm Swiss). It is probably the best balanced assault rifle I have shot. It is very easy to shoot one-handed, and it doesn't bang around too much if you have to let it hang from the sling and transition to your handgun.

Let me add that some of these positive features have been changed for the semi-auto SIG 556. I just got back from the range and my first time shooting this new rifle. It has an AR-style collapsible stock and mag well, and uses AR-15/M-16 mags. I do not like the mag release button, as it has a tentative feel and does not protrude as far as it should. The 556 is not as light or well-balanced as the parent 550 series, due to the new stock and the full-length quad Picatinny rail forend.

Not to mention about Polish standard assault rifle and carbine - the Beryl and Mini Beryl both in 5,56 mm NATO.

it has better knock down power cuz it's 7.62 thats 308 win, much better then 5.56 or 223 it's like a 45. compared to a 9mm you wouldn't want to shoot a deer with 5.56

i'm still confused as to why a perfectly good weapon had its barrel sawed off..

He doesn't mean "sawed off" in a literal sense, in that somebody took a hacksaw to the barrel. What he means is shortened, as in the M4 having a shorter barrel than an M16.

As an oldie I had a Bren LMG to play with (and carry) and yes they were damn heavy but great for firing. Amazing accuracy and a great weapon.
