    1. Does anyone if this was a semi-auto .45, in particular a 1911?
    2. What was his BAC?

One if the first pistols I ever shot was a 1911 style gun in .38 super. I had a sheriff once that shot himself in the foot with a .45 acp 1911 while stone cold sober. Why? Because he was inexperiencesd with semi-autos and had no business with a 1911 in his hand. All firearms require your strict attention but IMO, the 1911 should only be in the hands of a trained, experienced shooter. As for the alcohol factor. If I was sitting at home drinking one evening and found myself about to become the victim of a breakin, I would most definitely grab a gun and confront the perp, I would not however, get stiff and THEN break out the guns for some maintenance of whatever.

Still need more info about what actually happened...

Okay maybe not so I'll second guess.

He asked her to bring him the weapon, Stormy brought it over , handed it to him but first and he took it in his hand, allowed his finger inside the trigger guard and she did an age old kids trick, didn't let go of the barrel and his grip tightened.........

I really look at this incident as just sad. I wouldn't ever really make decisions with a weapon in a condition where I wouldn't be willing to drive.

To drunk to drive to drunk to shoot.

/personal feeling is that this is about half again the current legal limit in most states but thats not my call. Yes there is minor impairment testable in most people at the current levels but it isn't greater than that for driving tired after a 12 hour shift which you'll never be prosecuted for.

// Is also being a bit of a hippocrate her because I can't claim never to have drank to much when plinking places. Mostly with a spring action BB gun which I feel ok about, but occasionally with .22 pistols and rifles.
