And if you rub it sensually over your body for more than ten minutes?

If your covered in gun oil then it could be considered maintenance.

Hey! I discovered Martini Henry Cadet rifle and a Remington 40X hiding in the bedroom that I previously overlooked! Makes me wonder what else I have stashed. Oh yeah! There are two more Makarovs found too. One Russian and the other is Bulgarian. The first one I noted was East German. The Garand went bye bye after it bit my thumb and ripped off my thumbnail.

Drop in one of those M1 devices. Load the clip into the rifle, pull back on the op rod. Good to go, no blue-purple thumb. Put the original part - labeled into the parts box.

It wasn't so much as the thumb getting bit that was painful as the thumbnail getting ripped off. My thumb got bit when I loaded the enbloc clip in. I figured I payed to shoot at the range, so I wasn't going to let a pinched thumb get in the way. While taking aim, I held my thumb up like the proverbial sore thumb. The operating rod handle caught my thumbnail when I squeezed off the first shot. After doing a good renditioning of gang signs for about five or six minutes, I put the rifle away and went home. As I looked back at the shooting table, I realized it looked like someone had butchered a chicken on the table with the blood spray all over.

    I only have a supersoaker. :(

Maybe one day when I have a place of my own to have a safe. And a reason to need one...don't see the point in bothering at the current time...

Come to the states. And make sure you live in a free state like Texas or Florida and not a communist haven like California. You can have all sorts of nice toys.

The problem being that i'm doing my Masters of Pharmacy and its a pain (and very time consuming) to get them accredited overseas.

For example I would have to do a one year course plus a pre-registration year in the UK to get accredited over there, an Influx of EU immigrants made them change their rules to make it harder for them to get a job. Side effect was that their reciprical arrangement with Australia was canned, and we have to go through the same process as everyone else.

And I honestly think the US has way more problems then Australia (economic, political, social etc) and i want to keep as far away as possible, though I suppose I might go over there for a holiday at some point (after I visit europe!).

As for firearms licensing. Valid reason = joining a rifle club and turning up at 3 meetings per year, permission to shoot on a farm or license to shoot in state forrests. None are real hard to do.

Pistols you need to join a pistol club and show up at 3 or 4 meetings per year (from memory)

Storage is having an appropriate safe and storing ammunition in a separate locked container (padlocked toolbox even)

And a background check, nothing real complicated (probably no different to the one I have to get already). I'm sure some of the other Australian's could fill in anything I missed.

But, I see no reason to get one, for now at least, what would I use it for? Spending money I don't have throwing lead at targets?

Why would you want to take a holiday here with all our problems? You should try North Korea or Iran first.

I wouldn't bother getting one either since you can't carry it for personal protection. That's mainly what I waste my money on.

I can't carry but I still waste money on pistols.

I'm merely preparing to carry should the need arise.

need has nothing to do with it

it's not the bill of needs, you have a right to it for whatever reason, Nobody needs a plasma tv, Nobody needs a swimming pool, nobody needs AC, I have guns because I want them, I like them, they are fun! What we don't need is more gun control, more illegal immigrants, or stupid bills!

No bill of rights in Australia. And from memory self-defense has not been a valid reason for owning a gun since the1940's, though it isnt illegal to use one to defend yourself as long as you can prove that you didn't use too much force. If you kill them you'll end up with a manslaughter charge though, even if its found that your use of force is justified (don't necessarily go to prison. but still get the charge on your record).
