Got one too. Great gun, one of the best pistols I've ever shot.

I have a weeks holiday, the most of which will be wasted as the range is only open on Thursday Friday & Saturday, although Friday is a double Reservisten range day at the Brannenberg Bundeswehr range, which will mean more than 100m rifle that I normally shoot, probably 300m & 200m too. Which will make a change, and then off to my club in the evening.

The last time that I was there I was informed that the range is to close in the next year or two. So we will all end up using underground 100m ranges. The post cold war years really are making a difference to how things work and how people think over here.

As to the weapons used the most have G3 clones, some are still using bolt guns, and I'm the only one using AR's...

    Wolf .223 Ammo

Okay lets get this thread back at the top of the list again.

Due to the (over) inflation of just about anything that you can sell or trade, regular .223 ammo for my AR's has gone through the roof. I recently got an advertisement from the gun Mafia (Frankonia Jagd). They are having a special on Wolf .223 Ammo, so I had to go get some and give it a try.

The results were dirty but better than I had thought that they would have been.

The 55gn FMJ stuff didn't activate the hold open on 2 of 3 mags fired, accuracy was okay to a smile.

The 62gn HP & FMJ was a dream to shoot, groupings, were acceptable, just needs re-zeroing. Best group of the day, BUIS @ 100m from the bench four in the seven ring @3 o'clock, that you could cover with a quarter, the fifth was 2cm further in.

So what do you say, Buy the 1K of Wolf for €159 or wait for the next batch of special offer 1K of Remington at €250?????

    Tony

BTW., seen that cheaper than dirt is more expensive.....

I've used a lot of Wolf, and about the only problem I've had is FTE's and it's a bit dirtier than brass cased stuff. But even that stuff is absolutely ridiculously expensive.

Have to agree, the 36 rounds that I fired made the Olly dirtier.

Betcha that when the guy's pull out of Iraq And the Stan, there will be a big lump of ammo released onto the world market???? Forcing the price back down to normality.

I guess I'll be trying to get 1K of the 62gn stuff, re-zero the Olly, (8cm left & 5cm down should bring the main group into the X ring), and use the rest of my Remington stuff in the Sabre Defence XR15.

It seems unlikely. The world supply is quite depleted. While the military seems to be well-supplied, many US police agencies are deferring training and qualification because they cannot get enough ammo.

So, first, current unmet need would have to be accomodated. Then, normal military and police reserve stocks would have to be built back up. Then you have the problem that US and US-paid-for-or-provided surplus ammo may no longer being sold in the retail or private markets, by law.

So it seems doubtful that world ammo prices will fall to where they were. On the other hand, the cost of ammo is relatively flat compared to the cost of gold, so if you bought gold a few years ago instead of ammo you can still break even.

Heard the same thing all over. Ammo, especially 5.56mm, are being dried up. Anything that they make are going to be shipped by express to the war.

This. The cost of raw materials has also gone up, especially brass. The days of 1000 rounds for $100 are over.

    sure they did, in 1938,
there is nsv 12,7 that came out in 1971, that is dshk replacment, 10kg lighter, that is what russians use for hmg since than.

there is no new 12,7mm mg, to the best of my knowlege, but i might be wrong.

do you have a link to that new dshk????

I thought the readers of this forum might enjoy this video clip from the Surface Warfare Center at Dahlgren showing ballistic penetration tests using a variety of combat weapons in a simulated urban warfare environment. I didn't know where else to post it, so I picked the thread marked "random". Sorry if it is too off topic.

    Here is the link:
