I am sure you chaps already know this. Apparently there are over 70m AK-47s in the world, meaning that there is one for every 80 people.

Praxus, why does the Uzi suck?
Meddle not in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.

Abusing Yellow is meant to be a labor of love, not something you sell to the highest bidder.

What use does it have, besides spraying and praying?

    Small, concealable, and excellent stability.

Come now Praxus, let's not forget the age of the UZI. Also let's not forget that it fulfilled it's designed purpose exactly. It also provided the State of Israel with a domestically designed and produced small-arm. It was also a great export success.
As for it's inaccuracy, well the UZI was and is better than no weapon at all due to politics

"The basic idea behind the assault rife is that on the typical battlefield, the probability of hitting (or grounding) the enemy is greater with a lot of bullets fired relatively inaccurately than with a few bullets fired accurately."

    The big lie of combat.

Then a single man with a Bolt Action rifle holds up a platoon and picks them off one by one. There goes your "more bullets = more dead" phillosophy

Back in the days of the "HK PDW", not very long ago , it used to quite impress me, what they now call the MP7. But after seeying some photos it doesn't seem as "compact" as they were making it seem/sound...

I am definitely of the opinion that the M-16 is easier and faster to field strip than the AK is.
That last comment stung my eye, it says in my soldiers handbook that everyone here gets, this is loosely translated: a soldier must fieldstrip an assault rifle in 5 seconds and put it back together in 15 seconds, put 30 rounds into a magazine in 35 seconds. A job well done cos I have done that
How long it takes to fieldstrip M16 and put back together By all means it takes practice on that 5 and 15 seconds but few dozens attempts and there you go

Oh and by the way snipe, if M16 is easier and faster to fieldstrip then you are probably more used to it.

To answer the question above, both the SKS and Stg. 44 used very similar bolts (I've handled both) and the gas operation.

And to say that the AK-47, or all modern military assault rifles was not at least influenced by the Sturmgewehr is nonsense. Ian Hogg, the world's premier small arms expert, said so.

I love seeing Ian Hogg on the various History Channel programs. He has a delightful voice and sense of humor
