General reply + Davey Crock.

Generally:

Anything 9mm.

Hand: Walther p99, Beretta Cougar. Both preferably suppressed with sub-sonic shells. I'm not much good after 60yrds so best to be quiet.
Assault Rifle: R4 (origin SA; 30 days to Cairo etc.): AK chassis but more reliable and rugged. Really. I know.
Assault Shotgun: Well, there's only one eh? SPAS 12. Providing one is familiar.
Misc: "golden shot" rpg, DECENT QUALITY flamethrower, the gun from the A-10 and in fantasy land rail guns and a working orbital x-ray laser. That's an airstrike.

Davey:

More of a rocket mortar than a gun. Yield meant the team had to entrench before launch as the range of the wretched thing included them in the blast radius. Nuke artillary shells were/are much better in terms of range and utility. Great for stopping tank advances. Not so great when you want to counter attack. Unless you've lost your hair and teeth already that is.

Bolt-action rifle: Steyr Scout

No fantasy gun. Although a rail gun would be cool. BTW, some friends say there is a British warship equipped with a rail gun. Is it true?

From what I've heard about those things they need a nuclear powerplant for the power requirements just to fire few shots and to reach somekind of destructive level.
So we'll stick with the traditional guns until someone solves the power issue and when someone does they're going to have a good advantage if for nothing more then bragging about it

Well, they could make a ship with two nuclear generators, that'd be enough.

hm...i thin only two things could part me from "my" SIG 550... a) another SIG 550 sith a brand new barrel along with the original Scope or b) a blast of shrapnel that takes my ability to operate it

What makes a Sig stand-out from all the other rifles of the world? Is there something drastically different?

Pistol: M1911A1
PDW: FN P90
Subgun: Thompson M1928
single shot rifle: Martini-Henry .577-450 (yes even though a sharps would be better)
bolt rifle: SMLE No 1 MK III
semiauto rifle: M14 (match conditioned of course, or M21) FAL close second
(true) assault rifle: Sig 550 or 551
SAW: M1918a1 BAR
Crew served MG: MG3
BFG: GAU-8 30mm (of A10 fame)
Even BFG: 16" 50 caliber naval rifles

Some of these aren't the "best" of their class but you asked for favorites.

dunno...and as the topic states the question was for the personal favorite and not for the worlds best...at least the 551-version seems to be good enough for the SWAT-Teams...

I'd prefer something like the nuke from armageddon (which would actually have to be a 6,400,000,000,000 kiloton nuke). Now that's some power.

That is a great gun; not to mention the safest single-action gun ever to have existed; it also looks very controllable.
