The presidents of the Italian regions of Latium (Rome) and Piemont (Turin) are both among the new infection cases of saturday. These are governors of their respective regions, i.e. of small states with a couple million people. One of them is also chairman of the Italian Democratic Party.

        Some one said this

That's the "leadership".
Similar behavior with the Iranian govt before 8% of them fell ill.

Thing in Iran is people have so little faith in their govt they actually thought the Health minister was bluffing when he said he fell ill and expected him to show up healthy a few days.

In other words they thought he faked the sickness to show he can recover without actually contracting it. To reassure people that it is not so dangerous.

          • Milano, since Feb 23rd, has a curfew on business opening hours - by 6 pm shops must be closed. This is originally by decree of the mayor of Milan, since friday now by federal quarantine law.
          • There's a rather massive marketing campaign (Milano non si ferma - Milan isn't closed) initiated by the mayor and backed by the Democratic Party and business owners.
          • Governor Nicola Zingaretti, on invitation of the mayor, visited such a restaurant on the 27th after curfew, eating there with a small closed group. This was basically a press OP for the above marketing campaign.

There is a supposed tweet which suggests Zingaretti made it that evening from the restaurant, stating:

"Un aperitivo a Milano, ho raccolta l'appello lanciato dal sindace Sala e dal Pd Milano. Non perdiamo le nostre abitudini, non possiamo fermare Milano e l'Italia."
"An aperitif in Milan, where i picked up the invitation of Mayor Sala and the Democratic Party. We can't lose our habits, we can not close Milan or Italy."

I use the word "supposed" because its only "proof" is a purported screenshot published only yesterday by a presumably non-Italian guy who otherwise in the last few weeks has been posting a bunch of rightwing political diatribe on local Italian politics. Haven't seen anyone in Italy itself pick it up from him, only seen it mentioned by the usual neofascist lobbyists in the anglophone social media world. There is no photo with the supposed tweet btw.

Germany : 800 cases to date

            Deaths ? Zero

            Interesting : )

Secret ? Barley, hops & water. No additives. It's a 400 yr old recipe.

Yes, Italy declared red zones on Feb 23

A friend called yesterday. His wife & son are currently in Italy on a vacation !!

Rome, Naples and some where else. Don't think they went further north.

They left on Feb 14 and expected back on Mar 20

I don't know why they went on Feb 14, maybe did not know what was happening in the news but the Indian govt isn't going to let them out of the airport i think. Straight off to a army base into quarantine for 28 days.

            We will know soon enough

Actually it was an event where just that featured heavily that became the main vector through which the virus spread in Germany. A carnival get-together in the town of Gangelt on February 15th with about 300 people.

The majority of the currently 500 cases in the state can be traced back through infection chains to attendees of that party.

Coronavirus: 'No rationale' for cancelling sport events in the UK - government | BBC | Mar 10 2020

"Based upon the current scientific advice from the Government's medical experts there is no rationale to close or cancel sporting events as things stand," the DCMS said.
Sounds so reassuring but what a load of bunk.

UK are being quite laid back. Not to panic means do not be proactive it seems ?

Infected in the UK stands at 300+. They do drive by screening like the Koreans who have completed 150k tests to date. But no data is available on how many tests the Brits have completed so far.

17 flights from Milan arrived in the UK on Sunday. No screening of passengers done on arrival. As a result its safe to assume no advice was given to thee passengers to self quarantine for at least 14 days either.

Apparently they rely on flight crews to screen for sick passengers !!

Iran temporarily releases 70,000 prisoners as coronavirus cases surge | Reuters | Mar 09 2020

Iranian prisoners have been infected with coronavirus, the United Nations said on Monday.

“Recent reports indicate that the COVID-19 virus has spread inside Iranian prisons,” Javaid Rehman, the U.N. special rapporteur on human rights in Iran, said in Geneva on Monday.
It's not clear to me why they released the prisoners if they are infected. Why they could not just segregate the ones that were infected from the rest.

It turns out they are 'political' prisoners

So in these articles I read published at the start of February the cornoavirus that is being spread around is a genetically modified version containing spliced SARS traits that are rumored to have been stolen from a camnadan laboratory by a chilese spy and taken to amerca to get spread biological weapon style.

Not at all, but also noteworthy is that no large and important publishers with wide reader bases published this article.

Fake news. I should permanently relegate all published articles with a reader base less than .5m to the don't read fake news pile.

Or how about using that brain of yours? READ BOTH sides of the arguement and then decide. So far, there are a lot more arguements against a bio weapon than for. If it is a bio weapon, then this thing ain't very useful. Long gestuation period. Minimal combat effectiveness reduction. Non localized. Friendly fire propability intolerably high.
