This is the second express railroad that passes Wuhan city. The Beijing-Wuhan-Guangzhou line (North-south direction) construction was started earlier this year. The Wuhan-Guangzhou part (about 1000 km, aroud half length of the Beijing-Wuhan-Guangzhou line) will be complete in 2008. Currently it is being built at 250km/hour standard and will be updated to 350km/hour (This is one of the busiest lines in China)
The Shanghai-Wuhan-Chengdu line (East-west direction) will be about 2000km long. The designed operational speed will be 260km/hour.
