As for the issue of listing Azhar, Beijing has reiterated its stand several times that New Delhi should provide solid facts and proofs for banning Azhar. China has reason to cautiously handle the issue. Observers worry that blacklisting Azhar could be used by India to increase its military pressure on Pakistan, thus risking exacerbating tensions between the two countries.
        I don't get this rationale.

In what ways has designating LeT & Hafez Saeed allowed india to increase military pressure on Pakistan ? i can't think of any.

If anything not getting that support increases tensions given how hellbent the administration is on getting this done. And after it is done they go to the people and say see we got them designated. Its for domestic consumption then in other words. Name on the international shame list like some defaulter. Shows the people that something has been done even if that something means very little in real terms.

In addition, increased diplomatic pressure and resultant reputational damage to Pakistan perhaps. For as the Paks continue to ignore the UNSC designations they are in effect defying the world. By not following agreed upon norms. Who would want to do business with such a country ?

She's a hard core liberal so i'm not too surprised she has connected it in this way.

I think the attack is all about boosting militant morale. Keeping the momentum going. One high profile, spectacular attack executed well.

If anything getting rid of Modi, Doval & co. should be preferable to the Paks. Can't see why they'd want to endure another five years of the same and possibly worse treatment.

You've answered it yourself. China is the only country that'd want to do business with Pak in a big gazillion dollars way. So the Chinese are lashing out, in their own terrorist sympathiser way, ofcourse. They have to look good infront of their own people and to each other. Home support means a lot for both regimes, without which they collapse.

Have you read the story of the King who was made to believe he wore a costume made from the finest of silk, and then a kid shouted out in the procession - 'hey, the king is naked'.

By hard-core liberal, you mean she's a democrat? That she is, but other than that she is a zealot when compared to Pakistan (beat up by ISI thugs, threatened to be raped), much like how my narrative has changed over the years. Didn't take me 30 years to understand the Pak mindset, unlike the Pak sympathisers in Indian bureaucracy, movie industry and the journalist fraternity.

Having said that, what she says at the last para is probably Modi will retaliate and will fall in Pak's cunning gamble. I don't know if retaliating to Paks continued misadventures can be called falling into Paks cunning trap. What she is right, though is, of Hindutva politics. People having different food habits should not be hounded, hold to ransom or killed, and even here I am not sure Modi is the culprit. Policing is a state government's job, and Modi himself has called out the Gau-Rakshaks as thugs. So your bolded part is bang on target.

The italic part however is because the Paks feel emboldened, as Trump needs the PA to talk to their proxy the Taliban and bring about a much needed political settlement in Afghanistan. I don't want to comment on whether this tactic the US is pursuing is right or wrong. Their country, their policies. But we have started to feel the heat, which is why I wanted India to take charge of its Afghan policy from the perspective of bleeding the Paks from both fronts. It's unfortunate we did nothing, and instead, like all previous administrations, went on a high seeking friendship with the civilian government. Disastrous FP has disastrous endings.

History is proof, that the abduls had recurring dreams, in which they saw Djinns offering them the best of advices on how to conquer Delhi, which made them plan disastrous tactics, only to be defeated each time, losing half their country once.

And for the second time - these things happened. They were glorious and they changed the world...and then they fucked up the end game.

She's on record saying Modi becoming PM is as if Americans voted a former grand wizard of the KKK into office for president (!)

              Complete nonsense.

She sees Modi returning as PM as bad for liberalism.

She's a fan of Doval though.

She's no fan of this and neither are most people. Modi is not responsible for this. Many of the lynchings were due to cattle rustling not because people are eating beef.

Our policy is to befriend the Afghan people regardless of who is in office. Right now, we will have to be more pro-active in other ways to avoid being sidelined in the present afghan peace process.

As far as i know Imran still hasn't condemned this attack. Contrast to Nawaz after Uri who did and even admitted in public that the perps were from Pakistan. That is why he had to go.

The Pakistan Army is afraid. Very very afraid. Taliban Khan now wants to talk about terrorism. Very very afraid. Shalwar Kameez Army is very very very afraid. They always put up the facade of a civilian government in a crisis. Also reached out to UN and US via that joker of a foreign minister, Shah Mahmood Qureshi.

We'll know how serious Terrorist State of Pakistan is. 2008 Mumbai attacks, Pathankot, Uri - dossier after dossier after dossier we have to these people. Parliament attacks, and Musharraf vowed to end terrorism. What happened? When they can't score a hit inside India, they hit our Embassy in Afghanistan. Shameless bunch of people really. And then they start acting like girls.

US and China are in the middle of a trade war. It's time to frankly tell the Chinese to drop its support for Pakistan and terrorism, else....China can go sell its wares in Africa, Pakistan, NKorea etc. We should punch proportionate to our weight. Jeez!!!

Let's check out CGTN's show, 'The Heat'

Song Zhang says at 7:40 as to why China is asking for more proof. He says India wants to put Azhar on a specific list. Specifically its about direct connection with Taliban & Al-Q. In other words India must show that JeM has very close links with Al-Q or Taliban. What list is he referring to ?

JeM does not have direct links with Al-Q or the Taliban. They have direct links with the Pak military and are a deadly terrorist group as lethal as the Haqqani network.

Seema's doing sterling work keeping the side up. Pointing out nuances and inaccuracies. I don't find too much wrong in this show. Seema was allowed to put our point across quite adequately. No arguments.

2,500 Kashmiris turn up to fill 111 Army jobs

There goes Pakistan's propaganda that the terrorist movement in Kashmir is indigenous. Not only the Army, the J&K Police of 100,000+ personnel, and its SOG personnel that draws more than 1000 from the J&K Police are native Kashmiris. Kashmiris are at the forefront killing Pakistani terrorists.

We already got the Afghan IED specialist who made this attack possible in less than a week. Without local colloboration it would not be possible to have eliminated close to 700 militants over the past few years.
