  • ROYAL ESCAPE Who is Princess Latifa of Dubai and who is her father Sheikh Mohammed

ROYAL ESCAPE Who is Princess Latifa of Dubai and who is her father Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum?

Been wanting to post this earlier. Thought it was a rumor. There's definitely smoke, a lot of it.

The ruler of Dubai's daughter has not been seen since she tried to escape the country

Her daring bid for freedom is the subject of a BBC documentary Escape from Dubai: The Mystery of a Missing Princess.

Who is Princess Latifa and who is her father?
Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed al-Maktoum is the 33-year-old daughter of the Dubai’s billionaire ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum.

The Sheikh is also Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and reportedly has several children from various wives.

In 40 minute video released her escape bid, Latifa said she had previously tried to leave the UAE aged 16 but was captured at the border, jailed for three years, beaten and tortured.

The princess laid out the reasons why she wanted to flee in the video.

She alleged her family had imprisoned and tortured her and she now wanted to escape the clutches of her father.

The Princess also said said she was the daughter of the Dubai ruler and an Algerian mother, Horriya Ahmed.

    How did she escape Dubai?
According to friends, she saved up £315,000 and contacted Hervé Jaubert, a former French spy and naval officer.

She learned he had escaped the Dubai authorities, because of a financial dispute, by putting on a burqa and then scuba diving into international waters.

A 2010 book he wrote Escape from Dubai, which prompted Sheikha Latifa to contact him, he said.

Together with Tiina Jauhiainen, her Finnish martial arts teacher and friend, she drove over the border to Oman where a dinghy and then jet skies took them to Mr Jaubert's 100ft yacht called Nostromo.

But after a week at sea on the Indian Ocean, Mr Jaubert claims they were spotted and monitored by reconnaissance planes.

Then off Goa they were boarded by what appeared to be crew from the Indian coastguard.

The runaway princess was then dragged off the yacht by what were believed to have been commandos.

Ms Jauhiainen said she watched her friend being dragged away "kicking and screaming for her life".

She has not been seen in public since and her Instagram account has been closed, although it is believed she may have been hauled back to Dubai.

Dubai’s Princess Latifa Al Maktoum ‘planned escape for seven years’
She tried to escape her controlling father in a botched runaway attempt. But the princess was caught and has now mysteriously vanished.

The mystery of Dubai’s missing princess just deepened, nine months after her disappearance.

Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed Al Maktoum is the daughter of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai’s ruler and the prime minister of the United Arab Emirates. The 32-year-old has not been seen or heard from since she fled the affluent Middle East nation and the clutches of her controlling father in early March.

According to witnesses, the troubled princess was seized by armed men on a yacht about 50 kilometres off the coast of India, who planned to drag her back to Dubai where she could face prison or torture. However friends have now detailed how she spent seven years planning her failed escape bid from the Gulf state she considered a gilded prison.

The stunning details surrounding Princess Latifa Al Maktoum’s doomed plan have been laid bare for the first time in a BBC documentary, Escape From Dubai, which was previewed by The Guardian.

Included in the documentary is the young woman’s now infamous escape video, reportedly entrusted to a lawyer in the US and first posted on YouTube, as well as interviews with a former French spy and Finnish martial arts teacher. Both claim to have helped the princess meticulously plan her risky mission.

According to the BBC documentary, set to air in the UK on Thursday, Princess Latifa escaped from Dubai in February. It described how she changed clothes and drove by car across the border to Oman, with the help of Tiina Jauhiainen, her close friend and martial arts instructor.

Ms Jauhiainen claims Princess Latifa first asked for her help to flee in 2014, after she was brought into the royal residence to teach her capoeira, a form of Brazilian martial arts.

“I didn’t hesitate. I was like, ‘yes, of course.’ That would be a great adventure for both of us, leave together,” the teacher recalls.

The pair is said to have battled waves in a small inflatable boat and a jetski to reach a getaway boat flying a US flag in international waters where Hervé Jaubert, an ex-Navy officer was waiting. However almost 50 kilometres from the Indian coast, the tiny boat was stormed by Indian commandos, according to witnesses in the documentary.

Mr Jaubert, who escaped from Dubai himself following failed business dealings that resulted in a cancelled passport, says he was commissioned by the princess for the dangerous job after she read about him online. He revealed messages between the pair in which she explained her plight in the UAE. He alleges they began plotting her escape together as far back as 2011, saying she would “rather die” than return to her oppressive father’s regime.

“She said that she would prefer to be killed on the boat, rather than going back to Dubai,” Mr Jaubert says to the camera. “I don’t even know where she is. I have the gravest concern.”

In one email from Princess Latifa, she says: “I’ve been mistreated and oppressed all of my life.

“Women are treated like subhumans. My father … can’t continue to do what he’s been doing to us all.”

Mr Jaubert and Princess Latifa swapped messages every two or three days for a period of several years before the plan began to take shape, he says.

Ms Jauhiainen later told a London press conference the daughter of the ruler of Dubai would be “drugged and held against her will” after the failed escape attempt.

She said the princess would be “hidden away and medicated” so that she could not communicate with the outside world.

Princess Latifa is the second of the Dubai ruler’s daughters to attempt to escape a caged life of extreme wealth and privilege, only to vanish after reports of recapture. Her older sister, Princess Shamsa, was seized on the streets of Cambridge after fleeing the family’s sprawling Surrey estate in 2000. Just 19 at the time, Shamsha claims she was kidnapped by members of her father’s staff and returned to Dubai against her will.

Latifa is the daughter of one of the Sheikh’s lesser-known wives — he has six in total. In her candid YouTube escape video, Princess Latifa claims she once spent time in jail, a torturous experience that lasted from June 2002 to October 2005 after a previous attempt to flee the city.

“It was constant torture, constant torture,” she says in the video.

“Even when they weren’t physically beating me up, they would torture me.

“I was in solitary confinement by myself, totally, and there’s no windows, there’s no light.”

Mr Jaubert and Ms Jauhianien were thrown in a Dubai jail after disastrous operation. They say they were beaten, threatened with death, starved and dehydrated, and interrogated for up to 20 hours a day before finally being released.

The BBC documentary team says they believe she was returned to her father in Dubai, however no one has seen or heard from her since, despite pressure from Human Rights Watch.

Unofficial reports from government sources in Dubai suggest Latifa is safely back with her family.

Radha Stirling released the video below that likely saved all their lives

            The lady in question

at least she will be with Shamsa now

attacked by Indian forces who boarded from coast guard boats...

Comments in that second video are asking why this French James Bond thought India would be a good place to head to instead of elsewhere ?!?

Trump goes on about American jobs depending on the the Saudis. Well, what is India's position wrt to UAE

            - biggest trading partner
            - couple of million expatriates living there who annually repatriate billions back to India
            - they also sell us oil & gas

What was Jaubert expecting us to do after the UAE alerted us !!!

                  From April

The commodore isn't accepting Jauberts story about Indian coast guards beating them up.

The coast guard did make a statement that it wasn't their operation.

Jaubert seemed mighty pissed off that Indian commandos stormed a US flagged yacht.

Makes me wonder whether the commandos who first boarded were Indian or not. Emiratis showed up a little later after the yacht was boarded

The coast guard did escort them half way back to the UAE

I've always thought this Jaubert character was suspicious. I mean who publicizes themselves as an ex-spy? We only have his word that the people who boarded the boat were Indian Navy/Coast Guard personnel. From what is described the behavior of the soldiers where they pinned people to the floor and threatened to kill them, they sound like mercs hired by the emiratis not Indian Coast guard troops. It is possible that the ICG or the IN can be asked to intercept the boat by the government if the UAE ruler requests it, but the ICG commandos would not act in the unprofessional thuggish way described.

In any case I'm going to take anything uttered by that shady French "spy" with a bucketful of salt.

I don't understand why they go to those countries only to be deported back. They can secretly come to India and contact me. I have enough places to hide them. Those pretty arab girls. Single and looking for a Miss Abdul.

This incident happened IMO. As far as surveillance is concerned, both the ICG and IN would have kept tabs. As far as mercs getting into their Yacht and threatening to kill them, I think this was an operation done by the ICG and Abduls Special Forces, abduls being abduls threatening people on board the yacht.

Maybe the French guy worked for intelligence, but he definitely was a paper pusher (for lack of a better term, using the Col's words). Which dumb spy makes his good escape with an Arab princess and takes her to India, thinking of claiming asylum, and then complaining that Indian forces pounded a Yacht which had the flag of America? You were in our territorial waters, without our permission, you get your ass whooped. Should have spent his retirement growing wine instead of getting a beat down. Or maybe he has a thing for naive Arab girls. Yeah me too, fool, should've contacted me.
