It's an open question whether the journalist tasked with the report actually did his homework.
Over ten years ago there was this young journalist that was hired to cover the NYC region for the NYT.
A few months went by and his reports came under the scanner.
Further investigation showed he never interviewed anyone for his stories and just made them up.
You know what happened next ?
The editor of the NYT resigned and the owners put out a full page apology.
This they did to protect their integrity and trust people had in their newspaper.
Not saying the WSJ guy covering the riots in Delhi did the same but there are questions in need of an answer.
Management at WSJ may not be aware there is a problem with their reporting of this event, this is an effort to rectify that.
