It's an open question whether the journalist tasked with the report actually did his homework.

Over ten years ago there was this young journalist that was hired to cover the NYC region for the NYT.

A few months went by and his reports came under the scanner.

Further investigation showed he never interviewed anyone for his stories and just made them up.

You know what happened next ?

The editor of the NYT resigned and the owners put out a full page apology.

This they did to protect their integrity and trust people had in their newspaper.

Not saying the WSJ guy covering the riots in Delhi did the same but there are questions in need of an answer.

Management at WSJ may not be aware there is a problem with their reporting of this event, this is an effort to rectify that.

Pakistan rejects India's 'illegal' new domicile law for occupied Kashmir

Hello, people of Goebbel Kingdom, even when your papa was showering tens of millions of dollars of military aid, in the 70s ofcourse, you stupid all, couldn't hold onto Bangladesh, for genocide is in your DNA, what will your F rejection do? In the next 10 years, India will take back PoK, if terrorism doesn't stop flowing from Pakistan. Only chance is now, become a civilized neighbour.

This is good news. Simple solution.

Does it alter the demography ? if one is willing to stay there 15 years then yes.

Otherwise it legalises those who have been there already for this amount of time. Children included.

They're no longer considered migrants and quite frankly the previous law prevented any integration because non-Kashmiris would forever be considered temporary "foreigners"

Al long last this place is getting fixed : )

You know as time goes on i see these objections as just going though the motions. Keeping up appearances as if nothing has changed.

Sharjeel Imam chargesheeted in seditious speech case

For CAA, he retorted that Assam should be cut off from India. Now, enjoy VIP treatment in jail.

So AIM's got a problem with this 15 year bit. He thinks it negates the earlier abrogation. Fought the PR fight abroad all for what.

The next bit, no outsider can get a Level 4 govt job there unless they've done 15 years there first. So no fresh blood that can come in at the lower levels. Ranks, 1,2 & 3 can come from else where but these people are all dependent on level 4 for intel and that level, the lowest is the most easy to corrupt and filter facts from the higher ups. Which then affects their decision making.

The state infrastructure remains intact with all the corrupt guys in place. States that have insurgency or a history of insurgency have domicile laws.

Can't buy property there either, i mean who is going to wait 15 years to do that. Who is going to invest in J&K now !!!

Only govt can invest there and that only incentivises a conflict economy whereas private investment would normalise it.

That domicile law is a screw up.

Added uncertainty is how do we know whether that 15 years won't get extended.

So regulatory unpredictability coupled with stringent domicile law.

What was the point of doing this in Kashmir of all places. Maybe Ladakh to protect them.

They have restarted the problem by not attacking the economic incentives of people to choose terrorism over a good job.

What i find even more interesting is he says the biggest snakes have come from the hindu community. The Jammu wallahs & a large section of Kashmiri pandits created this problem. Never forget that. They are not exactly loyal to India either. I saw a few specimens at the hearings. They hunt with the hounds and run with the hares. There are many collaborators. Stockholm syndrome.

This article is complete garbage. They should be celebrating because this stupid domicile law discourages changes in demography.

Do you have any challenges to what AIM said ?
