Originally posted by Tronic View PostSuccessor to Modi?? Wow, thanks for clearing that up.. At least you do make it pretty clear where his allegiances and biases lie.. So I wasn't wrong about him at all..
Stop trying to compare with Trump's aversion to CNN as if in India it's anything alike.. the Indian media is quite squarely sold out to anyone in power, save for the select few channels.. even Fox news is like a million times more objective than your mainstream Indian media which quite recently, every major Indian news network was exposed for agreeing to take money to plant fake stories. There is no parallel here at all..
And neither is this government that "freedom of speech" friendly that they will take criticism lying down... India isn't America.. you speak against the government in India, the state machinery kicks into overdrive to shut you up.
Since the last five years i've come to depend less and less on foreign media to know what is happening in India. The days when i'd consider them more trust worthy than local media are long gone. These days are so many options with the added benefit of how developments affect India rather than the country of their origin.
This govt is no more friendly or less friendly that the previous govt when it comes to 'freedom of speech'. Check out the freedom house tables. India's rank dropped in 2013 and has remained as is. The drop begins from the beginning of the UPA2 term. Course their reply was they did not care for some arbitrary league table.
You forget the power of social media. They don't depend on govt patronage. And these days will hold a govt to account. Even on false pretenses as we've seen with CAA.
I've wondered why Fox never made it to India. Later i realised they'd have no chance at all, since we have a few here already.
Last I checked, India just became the country with the highest internet blackouts in the world.. More than Iran, Syria or any other oppressive regime save for maybe North Korea, where internet is almost non-existent.. that's quite some company!
Arrest the ones who were pelting stones.. They were denied permission because the government is oppressive, not because they were violent at all.. Southern states where BJP does not rule show hundreds of thousands of students protesting peacefully.. Only where the BJP rules, you see students being shot and beaten by the Police.. why such a stark contrast? The students claim that the BJP student bodies are used to create a ruckus which then the Police uses as an excuse to clamp down on the protestors with excessive force. I believe them..
Students blame the govt, govt blames the students. When i see unrest and stones being thrown its obvious what is up. With the govt on that.
You are going on the agent provocateur theory. There might have been people who hijacked their protests. It would not be govt but radicals.
And you keep mentioning Lucknow, but we have Hindutva ABVP cowards storming a university and beating up unarmed students with weapons, yet why do you feign ignorance at that moment?
What you're doing here is narrative building for one political party, the BJP.. US section is objective, your posts here are all biased and propaganda. Anyone can just subscribe to Modi's Twitter handle.. he also directs people to the same links that you're doing here.. like that biased Yogi who you yourself now state may be the successor to Modi..
Subscribing to modi twitter handle is not enough. It just tells you what he's doing and where's he's been.
This section is objective, 370 all you need to know is here with all the crap removed. Just because you disagree does not make it wrong.
US section is constant FUD. 101 questions over decisions because the opposition just has to get a word in. Their idea of free press is 10x more noise than in Indian space. Is that a good thing ?
When i ask what is policy people bash the govt. Yeah, great going. It's very weird when you have to second guess what Americans say about their govt. But i know who to listen to and who not to.
Good, I hope they don't listen to me because I don't pretend to be fully informed unlike you. As long as they take my posts as warning signs about your biased propaganda and go online to do their own independent research using credible international and non-biased sources, my job here is done..
Out of time.. will respond to rest later..
Show up here and post. Not react.

Originally posted by Oracle View PostAs about the protests in JNU, violence is wrong, and doubly wrong inside an educational institute. Congress has let loose their far-left dogs to crash the economy with protests, since they have no hope of coming back to power. What cannot be debated in Parliament, that we need students, who instead of studying are protesting on the streets, pelting stones, burning public property and what not.
So i listened to some discussions on the subject and discovered the left has also had its bouts of violence in the past there which exceeded what happened. Nobody competes with the left when it comes to violence.
What i notice about the media is they don't want to take sides. This is the problem.
If the right starts trouble they won't call them out. If the left does it they won't do it either.
Sources that lean to either side will call the other out but lack context because they won't admit their side is also guilty
JNU is a left stronghold. As the right rises they perceive they are being threatened and lash out.
Tit for tat
I don't know enough of JNU history to see more into it
Cops could not enter the university because they did not have permission
Why did they not have permission, because earlier they entered and thrashed trouble makers.
So now they need to have permission to enter.
Then people complain they just stood around and watched.
So you see how disingenous the story is
Either way cops are damned.Last edited by Double Edge; 12 Jan 20,, 22:41.

When in a foreign country vote for a liberal government so that one can enjoy all the perks associated with immigration, jobs, social security etc, while they want the opposite in their country of origin. I can bet that Pakistanis in the US hates Trump too, but many of them support Im the Dim as PM (PA's tool).
What I have voted for is a strong government at the centre, with a majority, one which can take focussed FP decisions, take action against terrorism sponsored by Pakistan, manage China, uplift infrastructure and many more things. I don't think any of these wants are xenophobic, unless you've another definition for that.Politicians are elected to serve...far too many don't see it that way - Albany Rifles! || Loyalty to country always. To give you have idea how far we have to go..
We are afraid of the internet. The Americans use the internet to hunt terrorists.
India uses Israeli tools for all these stuff too. The problem is not enough skilled people work for the GoI. I would have used the same tools in a different way. Instead of blocking, I'd have identified specific IPs and would have sent a police patrol their way to have their asses skinned.

Originally posted by Tronic View PostThen you support the wrong people and political ideology if you want an inclusive country.. Anhow, I do not oppose you like I do DE because, unless I am wrong, you are not orchestrating a propaganda campaign for the BJP like DE here is doing.. I can easily discuss this with you privately in PMs.. DE I have to call out on this thread because I find him blatantly pushing a singular agenda..
Illiterate/semi-educated & sometimes educated politicians of the BJP makes news for the wrong reasons. Don't think I need to give articles for this. Always remember, if it doesn't come from the PM, or the top hierarchy, that is to be ignored. Now, if Amit Shah says all illegal muslims should be kicked out from this country, he's playing to the gallery. He also will need votes to remain in power at the end of his term. Politicians don't have any friends, they only have their own interests to take care, and in the process, if they can, make some progress for the country too. Congress signed the Assam Accord, and the NRC is Congress' gift to Assam to kick illegal Bangladeshis out of Assam, and hence India.
So, NRC kicks out illegal Bangladeshis. Bangladeshis = Hindus + Muslims + Christians + maybe few Sikhs etc. Now, CAA gives minorities from Pak/Bang/Afghan Indian citizenship. Who will benefit? Hindus, Sikhs, Christians, etc. Why not Muslims? Because muslims are driving these people into extinction in their home countries, and they already have 3 muslim countries to live.
Can persecuted muslims (shias/ahmadis/transexuals/Bajwa/ImranKhan) become Indian citizens? Yes. They can come to India, and can apply for citizenship. Their cases will be vetted and heard.
Hindus who migrated illegally were living like aliens in places like Gujarat, Rajasthan. Police asked for bribe often, no regular work, no documents, no education for children. Huh, ideal conditions for bringing up children isn't it? I guess it was more or less the same for all those illegal Christians, Sikhs who moved to India too. Those people needed a law that can spare them of their ghostly existence inside India. They got CAA. Congress could have done it too, but they were busy witch-hunting Modi and looting tax-payers money.
In Karnataka, every year in the state budget, prices of smokes and booze are increased, to give poor people rice at INR 1 or 2 per kilogram. They took my hard earned tax money to fund food for lazy people or maybe poor. This is the socialist mantra. I see the BJP accepting some of the same socialist policies, and I don't like it. But, it doesn't matter what I like and what I don't, we are a huge country, and if some form of socialism is not accepted by the ruling party there'd be riots for basic things like food.
I can go on and on about many social issues, but I have limited time, unless you want to discuss specific points.
Killings in the name of cow. Who does it? Why do they do it? - This is your action item for today. I'd like to hear from you. No newspaper clippings, no articles, no left or right stand. Give me your thought.
And, you have not understood DE at all. He also eats beef. :DPoliticians are elected to serve...far too many don't see it that way - Albany Rifles! || Loyalty to country always. Loyalty to government, when it deserves it - Mark Twain! || I am a far left millennial!

Do you remember when Bal Thackeray died, 1 muslim girl questioned why Mumbai should be shut the next day, another girl liked her post on Facebook. Both were picked up by police, and it was Congress government in Maharashtra that time who placated the sena thugs on the streets.
What we're seeing in JNU now is the left being scared into existence, and they're being defensive while going on the offensive from the word go.

Abha Khanna is always worth listening to. As an experienced journalist she has a sharp eye on the separatist-terrorist-media nexus
The amount of pro separatist/azaadi content on social media has tripled since Aug 5.
How is that possible when people in Kashmir have been off the internet since.
Because its foreign generated. Mostly from Pakistan.
Anti-india articles in the local Kashmiri press fetch premiums for the media that publish them.
SO a second batch of envoys has been sent to J&K.
I like how they included the US ambassador, this is better than some US CODEL and it means the American opposition cannot complain the Indian govt is denying them access. The US ambassador will also be more knowledgeable and sensitive about the local situation unlike some agenda driven US congress critter. If Alice Wells is in town take her too.Last edited by Double Edge; 13 Jan 20,, 18:10.
