Isn’t it convenient that the chicken S, Turks are now engaged in the killing within the Syrian borders now that ISIS is on its heals? Killing Kurds that is.

Good management ? go after the kurds after they've fought ISIS

To intervene earlier would create the perception Turkey supports ISIS

can't quote any posts today for some reason....board gets unresponsive when you do

"go after the kurds after they've fought ISIS"

i would correct it like this: "go after YPG/PKK and ISIS after they fought each other."

What you mean? Which one is ally of Turkey? Both Kurds and sunni muslims are not enemy of Turkey. Both PKK and ISIS did brutal acts in Turkey and considered as terror organisations in Turkey and in YOUR own country.

                And YPG is not PKK.

YPG has officially been declared not to be considered a terrorist organization by our government.

Of course YPG and PKK are not same. But both group see Abdullah Öcalan as their leader. They share same ideology, same man power etc.

I know that your country supports some terror groups for different agendas.

You did cite the bombing of our 'Kurdish allies', the YPG, as an Obama FP failure. It was inevitable that the Turks would eventually take some sort of action against the YPG, but now the narrative out of the State Dept is that Turkey has 'legitimate security concerns'.

No disrespect to your statement here, but what US Gov considers as a terrorist organization is not exactly based on anything but its own self interest.

Germany may consider an arms embargo on Turkey for using Leopards against the Kurds.

"may consider" means there'll be no such thing.

As of the last Federal Press Conference on Monday, neither the foreign department nor the defense department "can definitely say" whether Turkish Leopard 2 are in use in Syria. With the implicit subtext that Turkey hasn't engaged IS so far - because given the recce mandate we'd then know.

Is it just me, or does this Erdogan fellow seem to be equal measures of Ahmadinejad and Putin combined?

On another note, quotes from Yeni Safak, the Erdogan mouthpiece, pushing the Turkish government narrative:

The weapons sent to the terror organization by the U.S., which include modern sniper guns with a range of 4 kilometers along with AT-5 spandrels and advanced anti-tank (TOW) missiles, have been positioned along the Turkish-Syrian border.

PKK terrorists had received training on how to operate TOW missiles in seven terror camps set up across PKK-occupied regions in Syria.
Additionally, the U.S. army delivered MANPADS (Man-portable air-defense systems), anti-aircraft missiles, to PKK terrorists to use against Turkish forces.
The U.S. has provided the Democratic Union Party (PYD) and the People’s Protection Units (YPG), which are Syrian branches of the terrorist organization, with over 4,000 trucks containing weapons to reportedly use against the fight with Daesh, despite Ankara’s warnings that they are offshoots of the PKK.

The current commissionary government under Merkel has decided that only a new proper government can decide whether to export upgrade packages for Leopard 2 to Turkey.

                              Turkey isn't amused.
