Lack of training + overworked = disaster. In this case, most likely an inability do decide quickly enough how to avoid a colision.

I missed this earlier, but the Navy will use a heavy lift ship to move the MCCAIN from Singapore to Yokosuka for further damage assessment. Same company that was contracted to move the FITZ.

    Dumb question.

When carrying a USN DD like this, do any ships company or engineering detachment stay aboard her during the sailing?
“We had been hopelessly labouring to plough waste lands; to make nationality grow in a place full of the certainty of God… Among the tribes our creed could be only like the desert grass – a beautiful swift seeming of spring; which, after a day’s heat, fell dusty.”

I imagine there would have to be some presence due to sensitive electronics, radios, crypto, etc. Some of that could be removed before hand, but not all. I have no idea if they could stay aboard or would be on the heavy lift ship.

Sounds as if the "dent" is working itself out on the heavy lift platform.
The "Cribbing" used and flexing of the platform might be releasing the deformity caused by the crash and the "new crack " is just an small settling of the ship?
