    Ouch, it looks like it will cost a pretty penny to fix her. $500M is not cheap, but at least she'd get the latest Aegis baseline mod.

    Looks like the FITZ will be coming back to either the US East or Gulf Coasts (Bath Iron Works, Norfolk - unlikely, or Pascagoula - HII) for repair. Lift will be by Float on / Float off ship.

    Ken,
    Thanks for linking to the reports. The last one, despite the typical dry government-ese language, provides a harrowing account of the Sailors trying to leave a rapidly flooding space. Makes you proud how they calmly exited the space, helping each other out. It is amazing that many made it out with the amount of flooding and how quickly their berthing space flooded. My heart goes out to them and their families.

    This should be an extensive repair of Fitz.... hopefully someone will post pictures ?
    The $250 million estimate sounds less than I would of expected for a DDG... stand by for "change orders"
