US 'strategic patience with North Korea has ended'
4/12/17 - "Chinese President Xi Jinping urged President Trump to find a peaceful solution to the crisis on the Korean Peninsula during a telephone call between the two leaders early Wednesday" https://www.washingtonpost.com/world...=.78326c0e8cc0
And in between all these events, NK has made countless threats against the US, although this is nothing unusual
I'm a military enthusiast so here's what how I visualize the situation
Carl Vinson Strike Group, including Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70), embarked Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 2, Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyers USS Wayne E. Meyer (DDG 108) and USS Michael Murphy (DDG 112), and Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Lake Champlain (CG 57), will operate in the Western Pacific rather than executing previously planned port visits to Australia. The Strike Group will remain under the operational control of U.S. 3rd Fleet as part of the 3rd Fleet Forward initiative. http://www.navy.mil/submit/display.asp?story_id=99815
Ironically I was at the homeport of these vessels just a few months ago. Here's a vid I put together if anyone is interested.
The US military says its controversial Thaad missile defence system is now operational in South Korea. The system can intercept North Korean missiles although full operational capability is still some months away. Tensions have been rising around the Korean peninsula, with repeated threats from North Korea and the presence of a group of US warships and a submarine.
