During WWII, wasn't there a U.S.destroyer that rammed a U-boat? Did it have a ram stem? I take it that not all destroyers were built with them.
I found these two -- neither were Fletchers so I'm guessing that neither would have been equipped with the ram stem.

Actually tmasi, there were a few rammings during WW2! USS Borie, DD215 rammed U405 and USS Baker, DE-190 rammed and sunk U233. Of course we all remember the Hollywood version in the movie "The Enemy Below".
The engagement between USS Borie and U215 was quite the battle! Checkout the story on Wikipedia

By the way, Borie was an old 4 stacker Clemson Class that was built in 1919!
Found a picture of BB-56's bow for comparison -- has it's own bulb, too. The diagrams in profile don't bring that out.
