Apparently, the Sig 320 will become the standard US military pistol.

    Not officially.

In the past it has been hinted that this type of ammo may be at least become limited issue (EFMJ).

If Sig keeps the quality up while making the mass quantities needed, the army is going to have one hell of a gun.

Was Sig the lowest bidder ($207 per pistol)?

Isn't the price in line with large pd Glock purchase prices?

The modular play of the p320 is very interesting, essentially several guns in one package. Allows armors to equip them differently based on personnel needs.

The last go around Sig had the lower price per unit but after some manipulations barretta had the lowest price after all the bells and whistles were added. This time no one had anything close to the modular system Sig offered.

If Beretta had evolved the chassis system of their Nano model, Beretta could have had a modular pistol but the concept has languished with Beretta.
