perp:
- visited Winnenden last year, taking photos of sites where the 2009 amok run occured
- was writing a manifesto (similar to Breivik)
- was suffering from depression, ADD and social phobia
- was under medication, although police isn't sure whether he took the prescribed psychopharmaka found at his residence
- was hospitalized in psychiatric care for eight weeks last year (during summer vacation)
online:
- perp used a faked (not hijacked) Facebook profile created several months ago to invite people to mall for friday using both wall posts and Facebook messenger
- perp was a FPS afficionado, in particular playing Counter Strike; broke off contact with his gaming clique last winter
- according to people who knew him through his gaming clique, in recent years increasingly expressed racist (in particular anti-Turkish), nationalist and antisemitic opinions in talks; was apparently occasionally ranting to himself in chats with such talk when alone.
weapon:
- procured via DarkNet
- Czech or Slovakian reactivated former decoration weapon (note: as used by the Paris attackers)
victims:
- two Germans, two Turkish-Germans, one Turkish, one Kosovarian, one Hungarian, one Greek, one Stateless (official nationality list from LKA)
- police estimates the high amount of migration background victims is coincidental and was not targeted
The second thing about this whole attack is a whole bigger problem. The MoD was using this as a convenient test case on how the population would react to a domestic military deployment. To that end, several companies of military police were actually getting ready to deploy. This is highly problematic insofar as the German constitution does not support such action. Moving towards this is pushed by the right wing of the CDU (ie. Merkel's party) and the Bavarian CSU, including at state government levels. And that right after the new Whitebook of the Bundeswehr that was just passed managed to push that group back and confirm that beyond the constitutional uses there'd be no domestic deployment.
