The UNSC permanent seats were established to provide a safety valve for great powers. Colonel OOE is correct, France and Nationalist China didn't really deserve a seat in 1945. The PRC certainly earned it by late 1960s, after it had proved its nuisance power on the world stage. The UNSC did exactly what Indian voters do with gangsters who have been too powerful for police to handle -- they elected them into the parliament and hoped that the legitimacy will tone down the behavior.

False. India contributed, what, 2.5 million men? The Chinese put up 15 million men, and more than 3 million died. More importantly after the war, over 1/3rd of the British Indian Army defected to become the Pakistani Army; your senior-most officers were barely brigadiers at the end of the war (Cariappa and Rathore), and only one (Col Timmaya) had the experience commanding a brigade. The Chinese had dozens of generals and marshals who were commanding distributed armies of millions. End result: in 1948 the Indian army could barely take back 2/3rd of J&K and ran to UN for adjudication, while the ChiComs forces managed to win a bloody civil war and pushed back the UN forces from all of North Korea.

... and that is precisely why the Chinese should have a UNSC permanent seat.
Keeping these so I can read later so you don't delete them
