Been going on for decades there. Picks up again every couple years, last major round before the current one was in 2008 when around 35 Albinos were killed in Tanzania (which were half the victims of the entire 14 years between 2000 and 2013 in the country).

Tanzania, the main market for albino body parts, outlawed witchdoctors in 2014 and arrested several hundred in hopes to curb the problem. The current resurgence followed that. The problem is at a different level though, see: http://www.aljazeera.com/indepth/fea...073105627.html

The UN had a factfinding mission on this particular crime series in Malawi this month, hence the expertise. The woman in question - who heads that mission and is quoted in the article - is an albino herself btw. She's worked at the UTSS pro-albino NGO activist group before, and has published on human rights issues albinos face. And yeah, she's officially a "UN Expert on Albinism":

          Are there studies on albinism?

            It's a well-explored social studies field - worldwide. See e.g.:

In fact there's probably as many theses on the social aspects of albinism as on the molecular genetic aspect...

This is not going to stop unless the attackers and witch doctors are caught, tried and executed effectively.

Some times force is the answer.

                  Is it "white" privilege?

Al Jazeera has a rather lengthy, indepth documentary on the topic:

(Warning: somewhat graphic in the witness accounts)
