    the AWD selection was political - the preferred option didn't get the gong
    nothing wrong with Abrams support that I know of, even some of the shrill chat about not being able to be lifted by the C17's or carted on the phatships has been blown out of proportion.

    we can certainly deploy them when and wherever HQJOC and the Govt want them to go.... :)

      not true on RAN subs. Aust also has ownership of 1/9th of the entire oceanic real estate - so we cover a huge territory on patrols let alone where we do ISR visits

      nukes are political dynamite so never had a chance of getting up in the selection process prior to even this selection of primes

        obviously not going to go into detail - but that is a very small subset of where we go - and historically we have gone on the north side of japan and north west of vladivostok

Just from an operational and safety perspective you would have to a means of dealing with nuclear material.
