You sleep with Dogs ... You get Fleas.

    Now carry on
    Colonel DCL,

It is a tragedy of our country that folks like Aamir Khan and this guy get more attention than the rail budget. People don't get mad over the fact that infrastructure, education, quality of life and basically everything else is shitty; they get mad when some fool mouths off.

Have you seen the sedition laws? They are colonial bullshit; you can get charged if you criticize the government (no, mind you, the nation).

Having said that the police are legally justified in throwing the book at someone if they can make a case for it, even if it is around enforcing of shitty laws. What is not ok, is giving access to ruling party goons inside police custody, when they beat him up till he pissed in his pants.

When they have done that, they have given the middle finger to the freedom that you guys fight to protect.

Here is the point to this rant. If Kanhaiya or anyone else has broken any laws, book them. you do not have the right to conduct mob justice on them.

However, nothing is going to happen to these goons, they are in very close terms with the Home Minister as well as with other BJP hotshots.

      Antimony,

Is the guy featuring above, one of those goons who roughened that commi student leader? If true then its clearly a BJP golden hand.
If you talk of the cops then yes, what they have done is absolutely a breach in duty. They too should be straightened up.

        Sir,

That's just another clever way of justifying your night outs in the Doghouse.

Yes, that is Vikram Singh Chauhan. India Today did a sting where he claims that he beat Kanhaiya up n Police custody for 3 hours

The entire "MY idea of india" contingent ends up conceiving too many half-baked narratives of history.

Romila thapar is one of the prime gurus of the left wing ideology and has appeared frequently in the last 2 weeks. She used to keep a low profile but the recent rise of the centre right into the mainstream, GoI's crackdown on the ford foundation, the kanaiya led JNU disaster and the growing dis-popularity of the left wing has forced her to surface.

                  The disaster is for you.

this kid, along with others, was chanting "Bhukh se azadi, gareebi se azadi" (freedom from hunger, freedom from poverty) and you sent goons to beat him up. Now he is a national icon.

Now watch what happens to ABVP across campuses. Already there is a rift within ABVP, with the JNU wing saying that they want to burn the manusmriti to celebrate women's day.

Would you care to dispute any of the actual facts laid out in her lecture instead of doing the usual left-wing right-wing tamasha?

Does it matter? He's in India fighting for his India. You are not.

                        Col,

You have not seen half of it. There are NRIs (Non resident Indians) sitting here supporting the right wing nuts over there. There are naturalized US citizens of Indian origin (who should have absolutely no say about Indian politics, in my opinion) contributing monetarily and otherwise to BJP and the RSS. There are forums like Overseas Friends of BJP which are dedicated to pulling funds from the expat community. Some have even claimed to have supported the Gujarat riots from here.

In short, location has ceased to be a matter.

Can the case of incitement be made or not. No case for sedition otherwise.

As for cops not doing thier job. when they do their job people scream brutality. Excessive force etc.

it's sad but it reduces the faith one places on the cops as an institution. What you cited is just one out of many. I've personally witnessed a situation where a guy gets harassed by a bunch of people in plain sight and the cops do nothing. Just observe.

This is when vigilante politics comes up against democratic politics. Each side has their goons, which at some point or another act extra legally.

The idea is they are at a point where they can be useful to indian interests as a lobby because they are influential enough to be noticed by politicians where they live. Time was right to court them. BJP is not always going to be in power so these connections must be sustained.

They don't have a say. They can't vote in Indian elections.

well not quite. The question is of nationalism. What kind. Two types. Soil or blood. US & France are soil based. Born there you are a citizen. Germany & Japan are blood based. if any of your parents was from the country you are eligible for citizenship. Being born in those countries does not make you eligible.

Where does India stand between those two. In between. being born in India is not an automatic condition for citizenship otherwise a lot of people in the subcontinent can apply to move back to India. neither does having parents of Indian origin imply you are eligible. we have this half way house setup. PIO and the naturalisation route.

As for funding they will have to go through the same set of rules that apply to all NGO's.

These episodes have ended up plain polarizing the people. Even those kids disinterested in politics have been left abruptly infuriated through gossips and circulations in the social media. It has become a fight between the ordinary vs the fanatic left. The right wing has been affected positively and has checked itself out. Rahul gandhi was quietly told to shut up by mukherjee(INC patriarch) but the left is severely handicapped by its own ideology and too miserable to look back and understand or introspect.
Your point is college campuses must not be used as battle grounds for party politics ?

I don't have a problem with that. Other parties do that to. I have a problem when they invoke direct action day and call for violence

That does not stop them from collecting funds

There is a concerted effort by outfits like OFBJP to call for dual nationality and then allow voting/ political rights.

Is the fascination with long flattering lectures with token punchlines in between of any real significance aside for plain public entertainment?

It's both funny and bizarre to see socialist wackos talking in defense of democracy.
