Estonia will build a 110km-long fence along its border with Russia, "to create ideal conditions for border guarding and to ensure the security of Estonia and the Schengen area", the interior ministry spokesman told AFP press agency on Thursday. Construction is planned to start in 2018 for completion in 2019.

The only still mined border in Europe (Greece/Turkey) will probably be demined within the next year provided we keep that economic blackhole under pressure to do so. Both countries are technically required to do so since 2003 and did negotiate to remove them, but Greece went ahead and laid new minefields four years ago. Last major incident was in May with three dead, one injured.
