  • actually, the way the media is jumping on this story as yet another example of Clinton nefariously hiding something makes me understand why it is she's so paranoid about media presence.

of all the stupid stuff that she did try to hide, this ain't it.

this current news cycle is stupid beyond words.

Career congenital liar paranoid about media gets media attention = stupid media. I see.

Get used to it, because everything she says in the next 4 to 8 years damn well should be in doubt and scrutinized. She's earned it.

And just to save DOR some time...

Oh yeah? Well, Trump is a racisthomophobewomanhaterclubmemberer. So there! Nyah, nyah!

Dem nominee was propped up against a pole and held under the arm pits by an aide until she collapsed in a heap. The sole reason she didn't face plant into the van, bounce off, and drop in the gutter; is because her thieving carcass was frog marched to the van and chucked inside like a bag of trash by three people.

Thieving liar should have stayed home if this minimal scrutiny is too much for her delicate condition.

Clinton IT specialist ignores subpoena for House hearing; other witnesses plead 5th

The former State Department IT specialist who set up Hillary Clinton’s private server ignored a subpoena to appear Tuesday before a House committee hearing, while other tech experts who helped maintain the system asserted their Fifth Amendment right not to testify – frustrating Republican lawmakers trying to dig deeper into the former secretary of state’s email setup.

House oversight committee Chairman Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, said he’ll now consider a “full range of options” to address IT aide Bryan Pagliano’s “failure” to attend.

“He should be here. … It is not optional,” Chaffetz said. “His attendance is required here.”

Pagliano is considered a vital witness in the Clinton email case. He spoke previously to the FBI under immunity, telling the bureau there were no successful security breaches of the server. Pagliano also refused to answer questions last year before a House panel investigating the deadly 2012 attacks in Benghazi, Libya. His lawyers said at the time that Pagliano did not want to relinquish his rights under the U.S. Constitution's Fifth Amendment against self-incrimination.

Republicans on Tuesday questioned why Pagliano would avoid the latest hearing if he had immunity, though Democrats pushed back. According to Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md., Pagliano’s lawyer said the request was an “abuse of process.”

Two other officials from Platte River Networks, Bill Thornton and Paul Combetta, did comply with subpoenas to appear. However, when it came time to answer questions, they pleaded the Fifth. The Denver-based technology company maintained Clinton’s server when it was moved from her Chappaqua, New York, home to a data center in northern New Jersey.

Combetta took the Fifth six times and Thornton took the Fifth four times, before both witnesses were excused.

After each question, they recited a variation of the line: “On the advice of counsel, I respectfully decline to answer and assert my Fifth Amendment constitutional privilege.”

Cummings said he could “understand” why they were not addressing questions.

But Chaffetz voiced frustration when Thornton declined to even answer whether he’d been questioned by the FBI. GOP lawmakers have wanted to question tech officials on the deletion of email records and other alleged attempts to destroy devices.

Chaffetz also said there will be consequences for Pagliano's refusal to appear and for "thumbing his nose at Congress." He didn't specify what the penalties would be but said, "We're not letting go of this."

A letter from Pagliano's attorney released by the committee says Pagliano will continue to assert his constitutional right not to testify.

The only witness remaining after the unfruitful initial questioning was Bill Clinton aide Justin Cooper, who answered lawmakers’ questions.

During that process, he confirmed that he had access to the Clinton server but did not hold a security clearance.

The email issue has shadowed Clinton's candidacy, and Republicans have been steadfast in focusing on her use of a private server for government business, with several high-profile hearings leading up to the election. Democrats insist the sole purpose of the hearings is to undermine Clinton's bid for the presidency.

Chaffetz on Monday escalated the GOP's battle with the FBI after its decision in July not to recommend criminal charges against Clinton for her use of the private email system by serving a top FBI official with a subpoena for the full case file. Chaffetz and other Republicans on the panel said the bureau has withheld summaries of interviews with witnesses and unnecessarily blacked out material from documents sent last month.

“We are entitled to the full file," he said.

Dismissing the "emergency" hearing held late on a Monday, Cummings said: "As far as I can tell, the only `emergency' is that the election is less than two months away."

Chaffetz issued the subpoena to Jason Herring, the acting assistant FBI director for congressional affairs. Herring and six other Obama administration officials appeared before the committee to discuss the investigative files. The witnesses on several occasions said they could not answer the questions from lawmakers in an open forum.

all this does is play into the equally stupid Trumpist conspiracy theory about how she has Parkinson's or cancer or whatever.

          • LOL, they're having conniptions about Hilary but ignore the fact that Trump had a medical where he was pronounced as fit and ready for business (and the healthiest ever US candidate for POTUS) - and yet the Dr who made the claims didn't even physically check him

I pity the senior sirs and analysts who have to deal with him if he ever gets to be POTUS

That's peanuts. Ike had a severe heart attack in 1955 and then was reelected in 1956. I guess a heart attack is less severe than pneumonia.

JFK had severe issues with Addison's Disease. Once again I guess not as bad as pneumonia.

Or, is it a double standard? Lots of ways for a sexist to describe a woman having issues due to her hormones, her period and so forth. Why no equivalent for describing a man's issues? I have heard a politician say she is on the rag but I have never heard a politician say his opposition can't get it up. Why anyone would think of using such statements is beyond me.

The difference is that Mao, Zhou and Deng were first generation revolutionaries; they actually fought for power. Putin wasn’t even born until 1952.
He's more like the Red Guard who thought they were on top of the world until it collapsed like a damp house of cards.

                    astralis,

The excellent annual BP Statistical Review of the World has Russian oil reserves at 102.4 billion barrels at the end of 2015 (14 billion tones). That’s down from 104.4 bn bbls at end-2005, and 113.6 bn bbls at end-1995. Production, however, was up to 10.98 mn bbls a day at end-2015, from 9.6 mn in 2005.

Back on topic, I'll trade Hillary's medical records for Donald's tax records ...

Do I really have to explain the distinction between two war heroes and a doddering old lady?

Mind you, I think this talk about Hillary's health is overblown, but that you are immediately leaping to sexism is exactly why any Republican is superior to any Democrat in this particular cycle. Once y'all stop accusing everyone who slightly disagrees with you of being sexist/racist/transphobic/whatever, we can talk about electing Democrats again.

of course given the contours of this election I think most of the populace actually -agree- with the idea that the GOP presidential nominee has made multiple sexist/racist/transphobic/whatever statements. to include GOP representatives themselves.

i agree that Dem rhetoric on this can be overblown, but not for this election cycle.

in any case as we've discussed umpteenth times, the Dems have shown that they can reliably suppress their SJWs from getting control over Dem nominees/legislative priorities, etc, but the Republicans as seen by their nasty little civil war can't be shown to reliably suppress the cuckoos and the alt-right.

i recall you laughed off the alt-right several months back, of course now the GOP nominee's -own campaign chief- bragged about how when he was chairman of Breitbart he made Breitbart "the platform of the alt-right".

The hits keep coming. Well you have never disappointed me over the years. However, nice try with the reverse direction gambit but it has been used too often lately to work.

Now who disagreed with you? I didn't disagree. I only pointed out the typical use of a sexist comment used towards women when putting them in their place. After making such a comment you really expect to then sit down with said person and discuss things? Does one expect to make a bigoted remark about a black man then sit down and discuss that with him like my big 6'5" brother-in-law? I'd pay to watch that.

                          • The point about Hillary's undisclosed pneumonia is that she stayed on the campaign trail while being infectious. Touching thousands of hands as well as babies. Being so non-transparent can be dangerous and irresponsible. Definitely a negative on her part as to how she feels about the welfare of others.

As to her interview with the FBI as to her ignorance as to not knowing what "C" means on a confidential e-mail, well that just blew me away. She is either ignorant or lying. Either is definitely a negative. I have friends that work in the FBI department here at a government facility and they have to attend training seminars regularly regarding confidentiality. It is a mandate inside the US government.

Colin Powell was correct in that everything Hillary touches turns to crap.

She is also tanking in the polls as I predicted a year ago right here on this board.

                            Rant off.

From what I hear, pneumonia is not infectious, except in rare cases. Just letting you know in case you happen to get too near HRC. :)

                              • Plus which you usually don't know you have it until you've been diagnosed by a medical professional. The symptoms are not necessary obvious/clear cut until you get so sick you go (or are forced to go) see a GP. It is the type of thing that someone with a busy schedule (like running for POTUS) would tend to put down to 'tiredness' or a generic/run of the mill 'virus' until it finally bushwhacks them.

Lots of stuff you can criticize HRC over I suppose, but catching pneumonia shouldn't be one of them.
