    The photos and details are coming via twitter, it's unconfirmed if Russian airspace has indeed been closed.

      When Chechens fight in Donbass they are 'rebels', when they fight at home they are 'terrorists'.

        Russian heavy handedness did much to transform a nationalist uprising into a religious one and a secularized Sufi population into a radicalized sunni one. Also managed to slaughter 20% of the population. This will be a running sore for generations.

            Looks like an attempt to embarrass Putin before his big speech.

              If this is the biggest attack the Chechen rebels can muster, how far they have fallen.

                It's entirely possible that it was nothing to do with the rebels anyway... There was some dubious goings on last month in Moscow involving Chechen in Moscow. Even last month;

                The brother of Ramzan Tsitsulayev, Chechen Republic head Ramzan Kadyrov's personal plenipotentiary in Ukraine, and two of Tsitsulayev's bodyguards have been remanded in pretrial detention in Moscow after a fistfight last week with plainclothes police officers who sought to apprehend Tsitsulayev in a sting operation on suspicion of involvement in an illegal cash-withdrawals racket. But the police officer in charge of the operation has resigned after being suspended from duty.
                Kadyrov Envoy Implicated In Extortion Scandal

                Ramzan Tsitsulayev, the 'personal envoy', himself managed to escape and naturally fled back to Chechnya later saying "his phone was on" if investigators wanted to talk. The senior detective handling the case, Oleg Galich, was then dismissed from the case and then resigned. Yesterday the Chechen President, Ramzan Kadyrov, was in Moscow for Putin's 'State of the Nation' speech. Where is Tsitsulayev?

                  Less reported was the burning down of the alleged HQ of the FSB in Makhachkala, the Capital of Dagestan, on Friday.
