What? Canadian roads in urban, well populated areas worse than in India? You must have some really shitty roads in your part of Canada then. I have been to India a few times and while I get about by train as much as I can I have bussed it about lots of times and the roads in India be then rural or in town are shit.
Good food though.

I was expecting when they (Chinese) would start moaning about the roads and other projects in our border and as expected they have started moaning,
China expresses concern about India's plan for Arunachal road
New Delhi/Beijing: China expressed concern on Wednesday over an alleged plan by India to build a road along the border in Arunachal Pradesh.
"China has already spread their network of roads and rail network near the border. Whatever we make on our territory should not be a concern of China," said an unnamed official in the Home Ministry's border management department to news agency Reuters.
He was quoted as saying that the ministry was seeking Cabinet approval for the 2000-km road in Arunachal Pradesh and had preliminary support from the Prime Minister's Office.
In September, the government eased environmental and other curbs on building roads and military facilities within 100 km of the border in Arunachal Pradesh to hasten the construction of some 6,000 km of roads.
Reacting to news about the new road, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei said the government needed to "further verify the situation".
"Before the border problem is solved, we hope the Indian side will not take any action that could further complicate the relevant issue, so as to preserve the current situation of peace and stability in the border area," he added.
Last month, India and China agreed to pull back troops ranged against each other in Ladakh, ending their biggest face-off on the border in a year.
India said China's soldiers had crossed the border in Ladakh in an attempt to build a road within India's territory in violation of existing agreements.
The two armies had mobilised about 1,000 soldiers each.
India is concerned about China's development of airports and extensive road and railway networks in Tibet, which can give Beijing the ability to mobilize troops quickly along the border.

Tdot? Groan. Ayyyyyanyway Where is this better part of India? I grew up in T.O. and ran rickshaw for 15 of those years. Some of the money I made runnin paid for some trips to India and while I was there I saw lots of shit infrastructure including shit roads. Shitty shitty roads. Don't get me started on the shitty busses. I have been to both Calgary and Montreal too and both have good roads. Ottawa too. Calgary aside I got round by Voyager or Silver Dog. Good roads in town and out. Nothing as bad as what I was subjecter to in India.

I am of the impression that if a hemorrhoid was like a tooth filling then a bus ride in India would be an easy cure. Your ass would be ruthlessly bounced around so much over a 3 hour trip that they would just all fall out!

So it depends, several states are still doing pretty bad in terms of road conditions whole others have improved.

Things seem to be different now. Environmental clearances have been moved online and the new minister has hinted that he'll pretty much behave exactly opposite to the two dunderheads who preceded him. Lets hope things on the ground are radically different too. There's a huge amount of road construction in the northeast blocked because of lack of environment clearances.Last edited by Firestorm; 16 Oct 14,, 09:41.

rule of law bla bla, helps to finesse the banglas bla bla, sending the right signals to the region so far as maritime disputes are concerned :)
Incidentally, the same question was put to Modi wrt to the Chinese border, his answer was both countries are capable of reaching an agreement and there was no need for 3rd party arbitration.Last edited by Double Edge; 16 Oct 14,, 15:28.
