Possibly because BSP backed out of the race and BSP's vote bank in those area's are a chunk. To stay politically relevant Mayawati might have joined hands secretly with Mulayam but behind the curtains unlike Bihar. Anyway BJP should learn a lesson here, divisive politics will never work and if they want to win the next GE then they are going to have to keep up what they are doing and hopefully their work bears fruit before the next GE.
