ISIS fighters who fled to the terror group’s Iraqi stronghold of Mosul after being defeated in Ramadi were burned alive in the town square, sources told FoxNews.com, in an unmistakable message to fighters who may soon be defending the northern city from government forces....

With government, Kurdish and coalition forces now mustering to recapture Mosul, which fell to ISIS approximately 18 months ago, an increasingly paranoid ISIS has stepped up its murders of women and children, according to people trapped in the city.

“They come to the house and take the children and accuse them of being spies,” said a stateside Iraqi with knowledge of the situation. “If the mom cries and gets upset at them, they accuse of her being a spy too and take her to the jail and later kill her.”

The terrorist group is feeling the heat of a coming onslaught, said Pregent.

“ISIS is fracturing, paranoid from within,” Pregent continued, noting that ISIS has two intelligence directorates – one for internal threats the other for external ones – and both are focused on unearthing “threats” to their existence within areas under their thumb. “They are using women and children executions to intimidate – the harsher the tactic the more desperate the leadership is.”

Clint Watts, Fox fellow of the Foreign Policy Research Institute, agreed.

“They continue to lose territory, we’ve seen a growing number of defections and a rise in the number of alleged internal spies – many of whom they have killed mercilessly without demonstrating significant evidence of internal espionage,” he explained. “ISIS pattern of internal killings looks remarkably similar to al Shabaab’s decline in Somalia. As Shabaab lost ground and defectors increased, internal killings and harsher punishments were meted out across the terror group further accelerating the loss of local popular support.”

Since those shipments Germany has agreed on a new military aid package to Kurdish fighters which is still delayed since Iraq (as the formal recipient) hasn't signed the necessary paperwork yet. Deliveries were supposed to occur in Q1/2016. The new shipment includes another 4,000 G36 with six million rounds ammunition; 200 Milan ATGM; five Dingo MRAPs; 15 field tripods for previously delivered MG3.

Total deliveries by Germany once this shipment goes through are:
      • 131 vehicles including 20 armoured Dingo and 20 uparmored Wolf, plus 15 trailers
      • 303 anti-tank rocket and missile launchers with total 7,460 rockets and missiles
      • 20,000 hand grenades
      • 24,080 rifles and 8,040 pistols with total 20,508,800 rounds ammunition
      • about 400 tons of various equipment items, incl. full personal protection equipment for about 10,000 men

Since April this year training at KTCC in Arbil for Kurdish troops includes acting under full NBC conditions.

      • I understand that Germany has stopped acquisition of the G36. Any idea what the replacement is going to be? H&K 416 variant?

        • Abandoning the G36 has been rather silently set aside - or rather, it will be replaced in due time in a couple years, given that it has been in service for 20 years now. By rumours a successor should be introduced from around 2019, with full replacement around 2025. The 2019 date was hinged on the Inspector General of the Army selecting some possible contestants by early 2016 though, which didn't take place yet. Acquisition of G36 to replace worn-out older units will continue. Total procurement since the first order in 1996 for the Bundeswehr is 180,000.

German SOF began switching over to G27P assault rifles last year - a derivative of the already-used G27 DMR, itself a variant of the HK417 (in 7.62x51) - and should have fully replaced their G36 by now. That's only 600 rifles though, even though MoD tried pushing this onto the media as an "intermediate replacement solution" for the G36.

HK currently has a court case against the MoD, the article explains the whole situation a bit.

          • Costly for the Iraqi Army for one month. Can they handle much more?
