    Mystery Aircraft Over Texas

Shape wise they appear somewhat like an RQ-170 or XB-47, but possibly larger. Not very clear photographs, but it seems the photographer is correct in saying that it is not a B-2, it doesn't have the proper shaped trailing edge.

Nah, it would have been going back and forth at funny angles if it was an alien and been blurrier. Everyone knows that! :slap: Besides, it was Texas not New Mexico- the aliens know not to mess with Texas.

        Check what David says

On Mar. 10, 2014, three mysterious planes were spotted over Amarillo, Texas, by Steve Douglass, Dean Muskett and few fellow photographers.

The analysis of the photos shot by Douglass and Muskett showed something interesting: the aircraft was almost boomerang shaped and, based on the contrails, it was equipped with two engines (or at least two exhaust nozzles).

One of the images, seemed to show a loose resemblance with the B-2 “batwing” bomber, whereas another one, highlighted a shape reminiscent of an X-47B UCAV (Unmanned Combat Air Vehicle) killer drone.

As done years ago with the famous Stealth Black Hawk exposed by the Osama Bin Laden raid at Abbottabad, based on the grainy images available, I worked with artist Ugo Crisponi to create an image that melted the various details that could be guessed by the shots taken by Douglass and Muskett.

Therefore, the one you can see in this post is a possible shape of a large 6th Generation (probably manned) aircraft, seen over Amarillo; a Black Project, inspired by the B-2 Spirit and F-117 Nighthawk, with inputs from more recent UCAVs designs.

        What do you think?

          Could be the RQ-180.

I find it interesting that they are conning; you would think that if it is truly a "black" program they would avoid flying at altitudes that cause conning. Either that, or they'd use anti-contrail chemicals to preserve their low-observability.

The RQ-180 is claimed to be a larger aircraft, so that's a possibility, but it is supposedly a "cranked kite" shape, more like the X-47B. Of course that's "according" to aviation bloggers and magazines' speculations so who knows? The shape is a little reminiscent of Boeing's Phantom Ray XB-45
I wonder if it could've been an older or rejected aircraft just being transported for some kind of testing? Being an already publicly known aircraft, they might not go to any great lengths to conceal it, but if it was a rcs aircraft, it might need to be escorted to prevent possible collisions? Don't know, not my area of expertise.

On one of the blogs I read today, the blogger (Steve Douglass) suspects that the aircraft was PURPOSELY revealed, although in a very indirect way, to let "our enemies" know that we haven't been resting on our laurels ever since the B-2/F-117/F-22 came out, and that we are actively developing the next generation of stealth aircraft.

If it's cutting across populated areas, it's under ATC control. Whatever it is, it wasn't trying very hard to hide.

Add to this the story about the plume spotted over White Sands. This guy makes a pretty compelling case that it was a DEW test.

Another "mystery plane" spotted over the US, this time in Wichita, KS; is it me, or does this planform look an AWFULLY lot like the supposedly-defunct A-12 Avenger II?

Sure does. A little amusing that anybody (see some of the previous links) would even suggest that it's a B-2.

It's a shame what happened to the Avenger II, it was a really neat looking aircraft.
