In India they are both brutally priced at 9500+ a bottle.
This is entirely due to our horrible taxation policies. You can get then at even Bangalore airport duty free for around 2800.

Modiji, if you want to win me over, reduce the outrageous 150% customs duty on imported spirits to a sane 30% or so.
I get them from US. Drops & Madhuloka both have them though. Btw, duty is not going to be less anytime soon. India is negotiating a FTD with Europe, let's hope it goes through.

Why no one, not a single leader talks about lessening booze prizes in their election manifesto. Almost everybody drinks, hence affecting almost everybody. 9500+ for a bottle of Glenfiddich is outrageous.

Steady income, buddy. Is there tax evasion and smuggling?

Smuggling mostly is in dry states like Gujarat and NE states. There has to be some amount of smuggling of Imported liquors in non-dry states too. Tax evasion? Almost everybody not employed in the private sector.

If you guys drink more then it's taxed, someone smart enough should do the math how to tax everything while making you drink same or less.

McDowell's Single Malt is about a thousand bucks here. The one I tasted in Goa I liked. The one I tasted back home I did not quite so much.

Maybe the difference was that in Goa I was sippping it with a cowboy hat on sitting in a inflated tube float in the pool with lots of nice eye balm around, and here it was in the bar in the club with old geezers all over and the A/c on full blast.

So, battery acid tastes different in different temperatures?

Dok, it's all got to do with socialist policies. Before the Karnataka elections, Congress promised rice @ 1/kg. Subsequently liquor prices have increased twice and smokes thrice, here in Karnataka alone. Why these turds cannot promise infrastructure, jobs, reducing bottlenecks in bureaucracy remains undefined.

Dahlwinnie 15 keeps moving up higher and higher on my chart. Just picked up a wheat whiskey - Bernheim Original. It's alright.

                    • Glenlivet. Nice.

With old batch-mates in Colaba, Mumbai. Lovely weather. Old times.

                      Cheers!

The Famous Grouse for me and mates tonight. Beef on the grill.

Friends guarantee that not even classless turds can harsh your mellow.

                          They're right.

                            • Anybody out there had the Dalwhinnie Distiller's Edition? Trying to decide between that and Lagavulin 16 for my upcoming birthday. I'm a sucker for sherry matured scotches, but I'm also trying to cultivate my peaty taste, and the complexity of the Lagavulin 16 is intriguing.

                              • Colonel, I found the Dalwhinnie to have a watery finish. The after taste is almost too smoothe to be remembered. The Lauglulin 16 you will remember but it hits you and very smokey. I find it to be a very good scotch with a cigar but I don't know if I want it as a after dinner drink without the cigar.
