    it's a maritime engineering nightmare

no serious ME would have submitted that to anyone that counted.

They are welcome to it. Not even Collingwood wants it any more. We'll keep the MCG instead.

I know right? Where was the artist planning on drydocking that pig?
“He was the most prodigious personification of all human inferiorities. He was an utterly incapable, unadapted, irresponsible, psychopathic personality, full of empty, infantile fantasies, but cursed with the keen intuition of a rat or a guttersnipe. He represented the shadow, the inferior part of everybody’s personality, in an overwhelming degree, and this was another reason why they fell for him.”

They figure if America can have flying carriers (Avengers) then China can have catamaran carriers.

Maybe they should put a sail on it and then race the New Zealand catamaran to find the next challenger for the America's Cup.

I think its more reasonable and pragmatic to say that the next chinese carrier will be single hull. Any ship builder will tell you that a monster heavy vessel will be more stable as a single hull.

No, with twin hulls there is an engineering dimensions limitation.

Size is relative to the mission reqs for the hulls selected.

There are capabilities which are better suited to large cats than to large mono's - and thats also based on the notional geographical reqs that the vessels will be operating in

It's about brown, green, grey and blue water reqs against the platform

If we are talking about carriers in the 70000t plus range that wants to go bluewater, I assume its already past that limitation.

I would also assume that most carriers would want to operate in bluewater unless we are talking about amphibious ops..

It just doesn't seem practical to have a twin hull carrier, so this 180megaton vessel shouldnt be taken seriously.
