To me right now it feels like the systemic instability is being used by the top to clear opponents. Not just on the street, or in the army, but to some degree further out in the next elections.
POLITICS - Major sweep of Turkish top brass by the government
The major sweep of Turkish top brass in the military (again or continuing further) smells not just of paranoia but a desire to create a deep top down structure to make sure the shifts do not sway the central power to actually change. Its' somewhat foolish in some sense since in the long run the officer ranks will slowly move up and erode these changes and the officer corps from lower level is where the ideology change has to take place to reinforce control long term. But on the whole it does create enforcement of major institutions at the top.
Two aspects of instability were addressed by the AKP the Kurdish angle was more or less sucessful because it divided those whom can see that rights they have within Turkey are growing (language and political) and are defended. So Turkey splits those whom would want to go independent [for the long term].
Second aspect is an utter failure, the economic destabilization will continue. The ideological pressure on secular elites to bend their way of thought to the elected mandate of a more religious party, and economic threats to bend in the direction of supporting the gov'ts vision instead of acting for profitability is very worrisome.
Erdogan
The civil fissure this can create between business and government is understated. Just imagine capital flows from the elites flooding out, pressure on reserves and the funding of gov't, not a very pretty picture if you look at it as a kaleidoscopic event.
If the government pushes a broad based retribution at protestors on grass roots level through the elite level the blowback will be severe. You will essentially have a united front through various segments of the population against it.
The danger here is that right now the gov't seems like it continues to push in the direction of asserting and enforcing power upon major groups of people without regard to the consequences. Not a good idea.

Erdogan
In recent days, Erdogan has threatened retribution against some of the country’s biggest banks and industrial conglomerates, leading to a steep fall in their share prices. He repeatedly said that Koc Holding AS, an industrial empire owned by a secularist family against which Erdogan bears deep grudges, “cooperated with terror” and “will have to account for it.” The alleged crime was opening the doors of one of the company’s hotels to protesters as they fled police.
