If you ever meet a former Afghan Mujahideen fighter who fought the Soviet occupation, please tell him that it was Pakistanis who were actually doing all the fighting and dying and beating the Soviets. I'm sure he will be quite amused. ;)

Funny you mention that, because the 'Islamic Studies' teacher at our school for grades 7 through 10 was a Pakistani Pashtun who fought in Afghanistan (as did his two older brothers and various other family members and friends, according to him) and would often regale us with his 'war stories'.

That said, I did not imply that the Afghan's did nothing, they certainly did most of the fighting and dying, but the facts are that all three (Afghans, Pakistanis and Americans) played an integral role in defeating the Soviets, and Pakistanis (both civilian and military) did plenty of 'training, fighting and dying' to allow the Afghan Mujahideen to eventually wear the Soviets out.

The US would certainly have not been able to pull this off on its own.

There are enough actors in Pakistan for India or US to actually pay off and kill their targets. Hafeez Saeed can be killed for the right money.

Pakistan will combust internally in the very near future with some serious fall out (pun intended) . And both India and United States will be and should be held responsible for letting it go this far.

...In a sense, Saeed is the new face of the evolution of militancy in Pakistan, the kind that Humaira Iqtidar predicts in her book, [B]Secularizing Islamists: Jama'at-e-Islami and Jama'at-ud-Da'wa in Urban Pakistan, from far right extremism to center right, and then to progressive. Saeed's evolution into a political actor, along with his charismatic ability to mobilize thousands of people, is what makes him marketable to an establishment that is desperately seeking ways to counter terrorism in Pakistan during and after the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan.
LeT is simply an anti-India terrorist unit, but to point out, the only reason India has not retaliated against Pakistan is because we dont want our region to become a war zone and hit the economy in an already difficult global down turn.

But once the US leaves, then Afghanistan will be the new war zone.

              Cheers!...on the rocks!!

You are 'getting a divorce' after being turned into a 'battered bitch', and, as is typical with most US endeavors abroad where the US is turned into a 'battered bitch', you are taking the easy way out (cutting and running) and slinking back home while scapegoating everything and everyone as an excuse for being made a 'battered bitch'.

I think he meant that Pakistan was the battered bitch.

I know what he meant - I am merely pointing out that Pakistan is still better placed than the US who has been turned into a battered bitch and forced into submission and retreat with its 'tail tucked between its badly battered and bruised rear end' while scapegoating everyone else for its 'rape in Afghanistan'.

Pakistan will deal with this monster one way or another, the US is merely following its tendencies to run away crying after being battered as seen in Vietnam and now Afghanistan.

Tuning my mind down to a third grade level and trading childish insults with you sounds like a great way to waste time, but since I don't really have time to waste, did you have anything to offer that actually made sense?
