The inconsistencies of all these movies is enough to make heads spin. Lasers that can blast through shields barely make a dent on a marble column. There's a shield generator that can withstand a ship borned battery but can't repulse a walker's smaller fire. Walker that can take fire while standing, can't take fire while faced down.

At the battle with the teddy bears, laser fire can't turn a wooden catapult into a bonfire.

And a legion of the emperor's best troops can't take on teddy bears but can wipe out the Jedi Order.

Now compare that to 22 years later, where one ion cannon takes out a Star Destroyer. Even if the shields were down (which there's no reason for them to be, capital ships and snubfighters ALWAYS have their shields up unless they've been damaged, there's no way one ion cannon, no matter how strong, could take out an entire Star Destroyer...

The ion cannon is basically a glorified EMP device; yes, it did "take out" a Star Destroyer, but it didn't destroy it, just temporarily incapacitated it which, in battle, is almost the same thing.
