  • JB007: Skyfall

The premiere is scheduled for the next week, watched the trailer, heard Adele's theme song...
...and think that, so far, the worse part is vodka martini got replaced by beer. :Zzzzzz:

Hope the movie will be average or above average JB.

early reviews are very good. I am looking forward to it, as I have enjoyed the more gritty nature of the last 2 new bonds.

There hasn't been a good Bond movie in years... Some of Pierce Brosnan's stuff was OK, but even those were kinda lame. I'm not impressed with Daniel Craig as Bond at all.

Tomorrow Never Dies and The World Is Not Enough were kinda OK. Die Another Day and Casino Royale were just plain bad, but the winner for "Worst Bond Movie in Recent History" has got to be Quantum of Solace. I sat through that entire movie and had no idea what the hell they were going for.

And yeah, the lack of a martini is damn near unforgivable

This is the question, so long as Craig isn't fed up, chances are it will be ok/good as opposed to bad.

The pattern i've noticed is the movie is good or better when its the new guy that makes an entrance as the writers try harder to get viewer buy in for the new guy.
            live & let die
            living daylights
            goldeneye
            casino royale

Whereas the ultimate outing by the current guy is bad.

            Diamonds are forever
            A view to a kill
            License to kill
            Die another day

connery managed to keep the average up probably because he had more orginal material to work with.

Agree with QoS, quite a marked change from casino royale and DAD as well, Then apparently the studio went brankrupt or at least thats what hollywood studios do to avoid taxes.

Craig is a different from the earlier classier bonds. Younger & buff is in given the impossible stunts he has to pull off, older & suave is out (for now anyway). Suppose today JB has to compete with ethan hawke & jason bourne. First saw Craig when he played this jumpy Rhodesian in the mossad hit team in Munich. The other members of that team i thought were better than him.

Wish they had not killed off the Robbie Coltrane character because he was such a good laugh. And casting Dench as M was an inspired choice. Her performances have been pretty solid in all movies so far.

I do like Craig as a bond. I thought Casino Royale, although taking forever, was a good movie.

                IMDB gives it a 8.2 (!)

Highest Craig's ever got as JB.

Went to watch it, was pleasantly surprised. Craig as Bond did a very good job, there was little that was far-fetched and OUT THERE, and it showed an excellent bond. Plus, the goodies Bond pulls out of his storage locker? Amazing!

I saw the movie a couple of days ago, but still don’t understand what the title “Skyfall” means.

Good chase sequences, plenty of firepower and a gentle nod to 50 years of 007.

In retrospect, this is by far the best Bond girl out there

It's the name of the Scottish estate, last location, where he grew up. As for the movie, meh.

I thought this was pretty good.

Daniel Craig's Bond was a reboot. Casino Royale being the first novel featuring James Bond by Ian Flemming. Notice Bond didn't have any cool toys in Casino Royale or Quantum of Solace. There was no Q. No Moneypenny. M was a woman.

At the end of Skyfall, M was a man. Moneypenny returned. Q overlooked the gadgets. And Bond? Bond has returned.

The Daniel Craig trilogy was a good beginning for the Bond story. But you have to watch all 3 of them in quick succession, almost like a very long movie or a mini series. In fact, the earliest 007 movies can follow the Casino Royale trilogy, barring all the high tech gadgets.
