Actually, they weren't just any Muslims, but members of a specific Muslim organization, the Tamil Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam. They also weren't 'chased away', but have been arrested. Hope they get charged for vandalism.

I don't think such a broad general specification should be made. There were reasons why the aid was sent in the first place. A crowd of 100-200 people should not be able to determine the relations between the countries.

Then of course that's on the giver of the aid to decide.

In Jerusalem today, worshipers leaving the al-Aqsa Mosque rioted near the Damascus Gate and began marching towards the US Consulate. Israeli police on foot and horseback blocked the way and used stun grenades to disburse the mob.

There is a relatively simple solution to this, which is to not base US diplomatic personnel in volatile countries.

Instead you find stable countries with which you have good relations and build large embassies there.

Whenever a diplomatic visit is necessary the Ambassador and/or diplomatic personnel arrive on board a fleet with sufficient firepower to protect itself. The ambassador wines and dines whoever on board, the flag is flown, the local hoi polloi get a good look at American firepower and have zero chance of meaningful protest or attack.

Doktor has a point. It's a few hundred crazies in each country. They are not in the majority and they are trying to exploit the issue to stir up anti-US sentiment. At this period in time we should be reaffirming our commitments to supporting democratic progress, especially in Libya, where personnel were killed defending our embassy and there has been a general expression of grief and tributes to Ambassador Stevens.

What Muslim nations' leaders are saying -- and not -- about embassy violence - CNN.com

    Libyan officials

-- Prime Minister Mustafa Abushagur on Thursday told CNN, "This is not acceptable to the Libyan people; this is not acceptable to our values. We are taking this very, very seriously."

-- The president of Libya's ruling General National Congress, Mohammed Al-Megaryef, asked for world cooperation.

"We apologize to the U.S., to the American people and to the government and also to the rest of the world for what happened yesterday. And at the same time, we expect the world to cooperate with us to confront to what is meant out of this kind of act of cowardice," al-Megaryef said.

-- Ambassador to the United States Ali Aujali called the attacks "deplorable."

"The Government of Libya stands by the U.S. in opposing acts of terrorism. We are committed to bringing the attackers who perpetrated these crimes to justice," he said in a statement. "Ambassador Chris Stevens and the other American who were killed served the U.S. Government bravely.

"Ambassador Stevens worked tirelessly in support of freedom in Libya. When Stevens was appointed as Special Representative of the U.S. to the National Transitional Council of Libya in April 2011, he faced enormous challenges.

"He served as the principal liaison of the U.S. to the opposition in Libya and he helped coordinate the U.S. response to the enormous humanitarian crises in Libya. He handled these responsibilities with a calm demeanor and strong determination in the midst of a war."
ON the other hand, some of our supposed "close allies" are showing their true colors:

Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai: While Obama said he and Karzai are committed to preventing similar violence in Afghanistan. Karzai's statement about the violence wasn't focused on condemning the violence as much as condemning the movie. He called it a "heinous" and "evil act" that has created "outrage and anxiety for all peace-loving humans who back up the idea of peaceful coexistence."

Karzai accused the movie's alleged producer, a mystery man using the name Sam Bacile, and American pastor Terry Jones of committing an act of "desecration" which is "not a part of the freedom of expression, but a criminal act that has now badly affected the righteous sentiments of 1.5 billion Muslims all over the globe."

But, Karzai noted, the men represent a "radical minority."

"Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) was the greatest prophet of Islam, a prophet sent to guide mankind, a pacifist and promoter of truth and honesty in the world," Karzai said. "In fact, insult to the greatest Prophet of Islam means insult to high values of 1.5 billion Muslims across the world."

"This offensive act has stoked inter-faith enmity and confrontation and badly impacted the peaceful coexistence between human beings."

Kazai demanded that the film not be released.
Why we continue to support this turd is an enduring mystery to me.

California man behind anti-Muslim film cited poor health in bid for leniency in fraud case
By The Associated Press | Associated Press – 1 hr 27 mins ago

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The man behind an anti-Muslim film that has sparked deadly riots in the Middle East cited poor health in a bid to get leniency in a 2010 fraud case.

A court transcript obtained Friday by The Associated Press in a bank fraud case against 55-year-old Nakoula Basseley Nakoula shows he has Hepatitis C, diabetes requiring insulin shots, and other health concerns.

His attorney argued that Nakoula was needed at home to care for his ailing father and his children and sought home detention.

Nakoula was sentenced to 21 months imprisonment for opening 600 fraudulent credit accounts, including some using the identities of his relatives.

The transcript states Nakoula began opening the accounts after losing his job in the gas station industry.

Nakoula apologized during his June 2010 hearing and served a year in prison.

(CNN) -- The 80 cast and crew members involved in the making of the movie that has roiled much of the Islamic world said Wednesday they were "grossly misled" about its intent and expressed sorrow over the resulting violence. "The entire cast and crew are extremely upset and feel taken advantage of by the producer," they said in a statement to CNN about the movie, "Innocence of Muslims." We are 100% not behind this film and were grossly misled about its intent and purpose," continued the statement, which was sent to CNN by a member of the production staff who asked not to be identified for security reasons. "We are shocked by the drastic rewrites of the script and lies that were told to all involved. We are deeply saddened by the tragedies that have occurred."

A casting call published in July 2011 in Backstage magazine and in other publications for actors identifies the working title of the movie as "Desert Warrior" and describes it as a "historical Arabian Desert adventure film." An actress in the film who asked not to be identified said the original script did not include a Prophet Muhammed character. She added that she and other actors complained that their lines had been changed. The actress said she spoke Wednesday with the producer, who is identified in the advertisement as Sam Bassiel. "He said he wrote the script because he wants the Muslims to quit killing," she said. "I had no idea he was doing all this." "I would never be involved in a film to ever hurt or bring harm to anybody," she told CNN. "This makes me sick to my stomach to think that I was involved in that movie that brought death to somebody else." A member of the production staff who worked directly on the film and has a copy of the original script corroborated the actor's account, adding that it mentions neither Muhammed nor Islam.

I am deeply saddened at the murder of US ambassador Chris Stevens and other US diplomatic staff in Libya. I will also say it is clear to me that the producer of this film (via his fraudulently stated identity) deliberately attempted to channel Muslim animosity and blow-back to Israelis specifically, and to the Jewish community in general. He attempted to set the table for a crescendo of violence like the recent terrorism against Israeli tourists in Bulgaria.

If it was up to me, I would hang this piece of garbage from a lamp post on Hollywood Boulevard.

Not one from The Pythons ever issued apology and they never went hiding.

With that said, I never watched this Anti-Islam "movie", so can't judge.

Frankly, I found it pity Clinton had to apology and condemn the movie.

There's a tiny rightwing extremist anti-islamist group in Germany protesting against mosques by showing caricatures of the prophet. There have been street battles between police protecting them and Salafists trying to get at them.

There was a campaign in Khartoum during the last week that claimed that that group had basically defaced a mosque in Berlin with the caricatures - a pretty high-ranking campaign. The Sudanese foreign ministry had adressed the German chancellor on thursday calling for a ban on this blasphemy and this group, while at the same time criticizing Merkel for praising Westergaard two years ago.

Basically, we can blame the Eurabia crowd for this whole thing. As usual. And Merkel and her conservative cronies for implicitly supporting them.

The German embassy in Sudan was fully prepared for the protests in Friday by evacuating all non-essential personnel from the premises beforehand.

Two of the Americans who perished in Benghazi - Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty - were former Navy SEAL commandos working as diplomatic security officers (DSS?). From accounts I have read, it seems that they were only lightly armed. Reports of other security-arrangements at the Benghazi compound only mention Libyan guards. I am puzzled and mystified that apparently... no US Marines accompanied Ambassador Stevens to Benghazi?

If accurate, the report below is highly disturbing on many levels, and implies a well-planned/double-tiered assault on US diplomatic/rescue personnel...

Anger for Islam ties players behind prophet film
By MICHAEL R. BLOOD | Associated Press – 4 hrs ago
Anger for Islam ties players behind prophet film - Yahoo! News

DUARTE, Calif. (AP) — The shared belief that radical Islam threatens the world brought together an ex-convict, an insurance salesman and a Christian charity in production of a crudely crafted film that ridicules Muslims and the Prophet Muhammad and has incited violent protests across the Middle East.

Media for Christ, a nonprofit that raised more than $1 million last year "to glow Jesus' light" to the world, was listed as the production company for the film. Steve Klein, a California insurance salesman and Vietnam War veteran who has spent years protesting at mosques and espousing hatred of radical Muslims, acted as the film's promoter.

And Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, who authorities say has used multiple names and was convicted of bank fraud, says he managed logistics for the film.

Federal authorities have identified Nakoula as the key figure behind the film. A federal law enforcement official told The Associated Press on Thursday that authorities had connected Nakoula to a man using the pseudonym of Sam Bacile who claimed earlier to be writer and director of the film.

Most of "Innocence of Muslims" was shot in about two weeks inside a squat warehouse that serves as the offices of Media for Christ, according to Eric Moers, who served as chief electrician for the production.

What prompted Media for Christ's involvement isn't known because the organizations' leaders have not spoken publicly. And much about the film remains a mystery, notably who financed it.

Media for Christ, which produces a program called "The Way TV," reported spending nearly $650,000 on "TV recording production" in 2011. But the organization did not break down those costs so it's unclear if any of that money was spent on the film.

The clumsily produced movie, which looks like a spoof, alternately portrays Muhammad as a fraud, a womanizer and a child molester. Despite its poor production value, the film would have cost at least tens of thousands of dollars to make because of the equipment used and the professional actors and stage hands who were hired.

The permit, issued by Film LA, could have cost under $1,000 though details aren't known because the document has been sealed at the request of federal law enforcement officials.

Moers said the film took 15 to 16 days to shoot and 90 percent of the work was done at the Media for Christ studios. He said one day was spent at a movie ranch in Santa Clarita, and one day was spent filming at the home of the man he knew as Bacile.

Most of the film was shot using a backdrop to simulate other locations. The crew members received sheets with the scenes each day — never a full script — and Moers said there was no mention of the word "Muhammad" throughout the filming. Other actors have come forward to say references to Muhammad were dubbed after the film was shot and they had no idea the film would be so denigrating.

"I'd say this was the most unprofessional professional film I've worked on," said Moers, who estimated the cost of production at $100,000. "I don't think anyone took it seriously."

He said he was paid with a check issued on the account of Abanob Basseley Nakoula, the 20-year-old son of the purported filmmaker.

While Klein has granted a steady stream of interviews and is unapologetic for the film, Nakoula has disappeared since talking to an Associated Press reporter in his driveway Wednesday. And Media for Christ President Joseph N. Abdelmasih has not spoken publicly.

Tax records for the charity do not identify any donors other than Abdelmasih, who lent the organization at least $30,000. He did not return phone messages and an email sent to the charity. Kamal Rizk, listed as vice president on federal records, did not return several phone messages.

Abdelmasih, a Christian originally from Egypt, has spoken out against radical Islam and participated in a protest against a proposal to build a mosque and Islamic cultural center near the World Trade Center site.

The Media for Christ offices are located just off a freeway and next to a mall with big-box stores in the quiet Los Angeles suburb of Duarte. There is no sign on the building identifying the nonprofit.

City Manager Darrell George said Media for Christ held a valid business license since 2006 and no issues had ever come up, until authorities confirmed earlier this week that the group was listed on the film permit.

One of Klein's platforms was a weekly show on Media for Christ's satellite network, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Klein has a long history of anti-Muslim activities. He founded Courageous Christians United, which conducts protests outside abortion clinics, Mormon temples and mosques. He also started Concerned Citizens for the First Amendment, which preaches against Muslims and publishes volumes of anti-Muslim propaganda that Klein distributes. The Southern Poverty Law Center says they have been tracking Klein for several years and have labeled two of the organizations he is affiliated with as hate groups.

Associated Press writers Anthony McCartney in Los Angeles and Gillian Flaccus in Cerritos, Calif., contributed to this report.

Eurabia has absolutely nothing to do with salafists. Especially since less than 0.1% of all muslims in Germany are religious or political followers of Salafist movements.

Portrayal of equivalism of Islam and Terrorism
Rightwing extremists for ideological-tactical reasons do not differentiate between Islam, Islamism and islamist terrorism. Muslims living in Germany are being portrayed as a threat to the inner security of the nation. The calculation behind this portrayal is the suggestion that a rising number of muslims also raises the terror threat. Rightwing extremists attempt to pretend that they are concerned with the safety of the population with these statements, in reality however they are merely creating a smokescreen for their xenophobic core beliefs regarding a homogenic German population structure.

Antiislamism as a modern form of xenophobia / racism
Fears in regard to integration problems are often merely the cause for demands towards an ethnically-culturally cleansed, homogenic pure German society. [...]

"Citizens Movement proNRW" (suspicion case for unconstitutional group)
[...] The group agitates in many campaigns through flyers, internet publishing or in rallies - with participation of foreign rightwing extremists - against a socalled "islamization of Europe". In these campaigns, muslims are singled out and called non-integrationable for their religion or ancestry using both sweeping and blatant statements. The statements and demands hawked by proNRW aim towards a restriction of constitutional rights - such as freedom of religion - against a whole section of the population and violate the human dignity of the affected.
