Three fallen Kiwi soldiers are honored by their battalion comrades-

Awesome, a true warriors farewell. There is definitely a gut and primitive reaction when Native warrior traditions are honored.

It vaguely reminds me of the airborne troops on D-Day who shaved their scalps in the manner of the Iroquois and other New England Native Amrican tribes. I've always wondered what the Germans thought about these guys! ;)

      A true and fitting farewell.

To most people on the outside that doesn't know the tradition, that must've looked rather silly.

That was one of the most beautiful things I've seen in awhile.

God bless every one of them.....

Does anyone know what the significance of the camouflaged, armed patrol escorting the body was?

Armed warriors flank the bodies as they are carried onto the marae. The kit is current to Afghanistan.
