Thanks for the pictures. I'd love to be a fly on the wall in the CPO mess!

My wife and I flew into Albany a few years ago on our way to Vermont...I'm kicking myself that I didn't know about the Slater at the time. I will be making the trip from Alabama sometime in the future!!!

They will make a certified Deck Ape out of you in no time.

          Your doing a great job.

But next time, throw some comments in. Where you are working, what you are doing. Is the coffee any good in the mess. Those kind of things.

            Lots of TLC being applied.
GG's comment about addine captions to the photos. :pop:
It especially helps us land locked folks with understanding what is happening! ;)

My American Legion Post just received the latest Destroyer Escort Sailors newsletter jammed packed with the work going on the Slater.

Great job guys. And we (Pacific Battleship Center) are watching you closely (especially in recruitment) and are sereiously thinking of doing it your way.

As long as we don't have to pay for copywrite or residuals.

Will make sure to add comments next time! ;)
What I did yesterday was some sanding on a few bondoed places that where in the passage that I circled in yellow -

Then I worked on a total of 3 or 4 of the replica hedgehog's; scraping off flakey paint with a scraper on the top part only, then sanding it smooth.

The two pictures of the sink that goes in the scullery is what my dad spent the day working on; removing a total of 6 or 7 lays of paint off of it.

& P.S I dont know about the coffee in the CPO mess since I dont Drink coffee So maybe Doc can enlighten you on that?

That presents a dilemma! The residuals and cost were suppose to be in the form of trade!(parts for parts, labor for labor, etc) However, with you guys way over on the left coast....that may be a problem

The engineers are now hard at work on the 16-278's in the aft engine room! I'm gonna bet they'll have them roaring by Spring!
Pictures will follow on Tuesday after I've had the chance to shoot a few Monday!

Trade for parts, eh? If you have four Tomahawk Armored Box Launchers, I can lead you to a couple of 16"/50 gun barrels out in the middle of the Mojave Desert.

Do either of you two have the correct arms dealer license to be handling such large stuff ??

16"/50 guns (as well as 5"/38) use SEMI fixed ammunition (projectile and propellent units are loaded separately) and technically do not require a special license. Besides, if anybody was big enough and strong enough to pick up a 118 ton barrel to hold up a liquor store he can have the whole neighborhood.

As for the ABLs, though they launch AUR's (All Up Rounds) Tomahawk missiles are not standard arms at you local sporting goods store.

With the discussion on the DD thread about weight & balance, that 118-ton barrel on the front of the DE ought to require a small counter weight at the stern... goodness knows how much freeboard will be left.... ... The crowd control might be a problem from all the tourists arriving to view a DE sporting such a weapon.
